Lightbulb Are you for or against televised executions on TV?

I read today where a cable company did a poll on this subject, and some people said that if it were Osama Bin Laden, that they would even happily pay to see that.

Re: Are you for or against televised executions on TV?

Against. I wouldn't want to take the risk of any children being able to tune in and witness it. I don't have any inkling to see it either, no matter who it was they were executing.

If they're going to do it, I think they should make it Pay-Per-View, with most of the proceeds going to help pay for the execution (or the prison system in general).

Re: Are you for or against televised executions on TV?

Totally against! I live in a state were we do not have the death penalty. I do not think I could live and pay taxes to a state that used some of it's money for that. Now here is the tough part, my state is thinking of allowing the death penalty in. I am worried that I may need to move, eventually I may need to leave the entire country! It costs me, as a tax payer, more money to put someone to death then it does to keep them alive for their entire life in prison. I will step off my soap box now.

Re: Are you for or against televised executions on TV?

I'm against it. Its bad enough to know that it happens. I couldn't watch. I've witnessed a few people die, its not always a peaceful event. Why would someone want to watch it? They would have to be sick! (if that offends someone, give me a good reason the person wanting to watch is not sick.) It sounds like "reality tv gone too far".

No way! The only people who should be allowed to see executions are the family members and people close to the cases.

Re: Are you for or against televised executions on TV?

Why would we want to watch people die? The criminals don't necessarily deserve dignity, but their families do.

Re: Are you for or against televised executions on TV?

What would be so exciting about watching a person get a lethal injection? I guess in states where they fry 'em, hang 'em, or shoot 'em, some sicko might get off on watching.
However, I do watch the History channel and they often show people getting killed (old combat videos and such.) I don't enjoy it, but it is part of history. I guess context makes a difference.
