DH went to Aldi's for the first time without me!

I can't believe I still haven't been able to go and now he went on his lunch break! It is not so much that he went, but he is not even a bargain shopper and usually has no interest in saving $$ especially on food. I am excited that I am slowly converting him!! LOL He didn't buy anything, but called me from the store to tell me some of the prices and "brag" that he got there before I did. LOL We have reached a milestone here folks!! DH...a bargain shopper...didn't think I'd see the day.

Re: DH went to Aldi's for the first time without me!

True...I think he was scared to buy something and pay too much for it! LOL Well, he had to go back to work so he was limited in what he could buy anyway.

DH doesn't really grocery shop anymore, but if he does the kids love it because he buys things they want that I won't buy because they are too expensive. I will ask how much something was and he always looks at me, shrugs, and says "I don't know" ACK!

Re: DH went to Aldi's for the first time without me!

That is funny, my husband is alwaysvery adamant and firnm to be frugal when I go to the grocercy store. I do my best to get the best prices but still always cringe at the bill. I am pretty good about not getting a lot of extras and making sure we have what we need. As much as he makes sure to say "be frugal" every time I walk out of the house, it is a different story when he goes shopping. He is pretty good about getting stuff we need and shopping for good food, but beware if he goes with the kids, he is such a softie. He comes back with presents for them, treats for the house and all kinds of stuff that we don't need. Maybe I need to send him with a big "BE FRUGAL" sign to tape to the cart while he is shopping!!
It is not too bad though, since he only does a shopping trip once every other month or so.

God Bless!!

Re: DH went to Aldi's for the first time without me!

What's Aldi's? Is it one of those warehouse grocery stores or is it like a Costco or Sam's Club?
Well congratulations anyway. wish my hubby would share the grocery shopping but I won't let him anymore, because he would go without making a list and just buy what looked good.

I only know what it is from others who have been there. It is a grocery store where many things are on pallets and very few name brand items. And best of all....CHEAP! Though I wouldn't know firsthand...

Re: DH went to Aldi's for the first time without me!

Oh, okay I see.
I tried a warehouse-type store around here but I had to watch expiration dates very carefully, because I bought some food past the expiration date a few times. My regular grocery store never has that problem, plus I don't have to unload & bag my own groceries.

Aldi is the BEST!!! I shop at my ALdi twice a week...just for the milk!!

Their homebase is Germany and I even visited Aldi while I was there...a very reputable company that treats their employees well!!!
