Shocked My Dyson Vacuum Review....

K....I admit to being very hesitant about spending very much on yet another vacuum cleaner. We bought a Kirby some years ago and at the time, it WAS a good vacuum (compared to others)....ummmm...not worth the 11 hundred and some odd dollars we paid for it...actually, it was closer to $1200.
Soooooooooooo....today I get the Dyson I ordered (the "animal", purple)...Kenny vacuumed last night and then just I tried out the new vacuum he went over the living room once more. We do have an inside dog and we keep his hair trimmed fairly short compared to what he would have normally because the loose dog hair seemed less of a mess. Well....Kenny moved the "trusty" Kirby out of the way and I vacuumed ONLY the areas he had done last night and tonight...I'm a little embarrassed to be showing this picture, but believe me, I would never have thought this crud came off of my floor with as much vacuuming as we do.....the picture clearly says it all....this is my most well spent money in a VERY long time.

Re: My Dyson Vacuum Review....

OMG!

"Dyson" (what my sisters call it) is AMAZING! I swear, I don't normally get this excited over vacuums, but this thing is like NO other vacuum out there!

We got the yellow one from Target using a 10% off code. It was like $399 before using the coupon. Expensive, but totally worth every penny!

I am telling you, we vacuum all the time with out cheap Hoover and this thing has got such good suction power. It is SO easy to empty the chamber. Customer Service is GREAT and I really like the design...it's so simple! No goofy filters to replace or anything!

If you are considering a new vacuum, I would seriously consider this one if I were you!

Re: My Dyson Vacuum Review....

I could not be more thrilled..I went ahead of course (you have to expore the new gadgets) and emptied the yuck and WOW..you don't come any where NEAR touching the mess. I am BEYOND impressed. I chose the purple DC07 because it came with all of the attachments (other than the standard "onboard").

Re: My Dyson Vacuum Review....

Mouse, thanks for the review. I am completely impressed. We have three cats...I can definitely see this as a future purchase. Is it heavy to lug about or fairly light?

Re: My Dyson Vacuum Review....

Okay I will give you my review...professional that is. LOL I own 4 of them, 3 yellow and one purple. We call them bird bird or barney. Because of my business, (commercial cleaning) sorry i don't do homes. haha. I beat the heck of them and I mean abuse them! 2 of my clients are police stations..minimum 30 men in each. So we are talking rock salt, cinders..and god knows what else.

Be careful with the little plastic piece the holds the wand onto the body if you hit it wrong it will break. Done it twice so I know. Also if anytime it seems to lose suction it could be a few things, your filter is dirty, your access pieces have come loose, or the "turbine" inside is clogged. You can clean that a few ways, a can of air (do this outside) or take another vac and use the wand to clean out the inside of the turbine or if you have a compressor and can blow it out with air even better. Also the wheels may start to squeak, just pop off the hub cap and some wd40 fixes that. Now my only saving grace with these machines is Best Buy. At best buy for 20 bucks it insures each of the vac for 3 years. You can return it even if you "think" it isn't picking up the way it use to. Well i have already returned one of my vac's 3 times in one year. (this vac is the one my son uses) So they told me I have to pay another 20 bucks, haha. Big deal cheaper than buying a new one. I do hate where they have the on/off switch i constantly hit it while edging.

I also have a kirby, so with my first Dyson I thought okay lets see so I vac'd my bedroom with the kirby first, then I vac'd it with the Dyson and I filled the tank. EWWW I have 6 animals, so I was truly amazed. I love the no bags!! I have used the hoover bagless and hate to clean that thing out..ewwww. But the Dyson is a dream to empty. Over the years I have owned commercial vac's, panasonic, sharp, hoover, kenmore, eureka (hate them the most)and so far the Dyson has been the most fun. My employees LOVE to use them, except for my son who still thinks he can push a vac doing about 50 mph and it is a piece of crap for not picking everything up or why does it clog when he tries to suck up a pound of shredded paper. GO FIGURE right. LOL

If you get one try to get the best buy insurance, well worth the 20 bucks. I wait until Best Buy sends me a 10 percent off coupon.

Re: My Dyson Vacuum Review....

I am definitely going to get a Dyson when my current vacuum cleaner dies. I had already made up my mind from some magazine reviews, but you all just solidified that for me. Thanks!

Re: My Dyson Vacuum Review....

Holy cow! Unbelievable it picked all that up after using a Kirby. I always thought I'd love to have a Kirby but could never justify spending that much money on a vaccuum cleaner. I'm glad we never did buy one. Now I want a Dyson!! And I just got a new vaccuum cleaner for Christmas so there's no way I can talk the hubby into getting a Dyson now....dangit!! I spent about half of what you paid for the Dyson for this one I have. I wish I had known sooner. DANGIT! DANGIT! LOL

Re: My Dyson Vacuum Review....

Well Kristen....I may be the wrong person to ask about the "heaviness"...anything compared to the Kirby I have used for years feels like 50 pounds lighter.

I also want to add that when Kenny vacuumed the LR to do our little "test" I had just replaced the sweeper bag the night before also...so the Kirby was at it's peak moment for cleaning. I am still in shock at the do hair and gritty stuff it picked up.

Sandy...I know whatcha mean...after paying $1200 for a vac I began hating the thought of spending over even $400 made me ill...LOL! I spent a lot of time reading reviews and...well...I couldn't think of a reason not to buy one..LOL!

Re: My Dyson Vacuum Review....

The Dyson isn't heavy at all. Very ergonomic I think and very easy to lug around.

We own a Rainbow, the kind you put the water in the base of it where all the dust collects. That Dyson sounds amazing!

Thumbs up Re: My Dyson Vacuum Review....

Oh my gosh! I cant believe there is a thread here about the Dyson.
I just bought one of these last week, and I'm in love with it! LOL
It's the best and so easy to use. I could never use another vacuum after being so spoiled with this one. I bought the cheapest one ($400) they had. I guess the only difference is suppose to be that the one that costs more just comes with a lot more attachments.
If you buy one at best buy you can get a 4 year warranty for $20.

Re: My Dyson Vacuum Review....

This thread has really caught my eye, since I am in the market for a new vacuum. Please tell me, what's the difference between the purple and yellow models, and any other colors out there, too??

Re: My Dyson Vacuum Review....

K...I ordered mine from Amazon and altho SOME of the details are left out on their site, the vacs. are JUST as advertised on the Dyson site. I believe Amazon has just two models..I could be wrong tho. (I was able to get free shipping and there was a code for $29 off)

The yellow is a basic model...you do get the onboard attachments..

Scarlet and purple comes with floor tool.

The purple which I got came with the cleaning kit (and tool), turbo tool (pet hair) and the floor tool...sorta reminds you of the floor piece that you use w/ a canister vac.

Then there's a green and purple model which comes with everything the purple one does, but I believe you get an extended warranty...I *think* that's the only difference..

BRB...getting the Dyson's (site) USA page....

Here are all of the models on the Dyson site...REMEMBER...Amazon did NOT list all of the extra tools in the description, they come with what is listed on the Dyson site..
