I feel for you, lukemason. I used to feel like that, too. But then I realized that this is the way the world ALWAYS is. Think about how scarey it was for people during World War II, when it looked as if the world would be over-run by some very real examples of the forces of evil. Or how it was during the Plague, or the great flu epidemic of 1917-1918, where MILLIONS of people died, and whole towns(eskimo villages in Alaska) would be wiped out. The reason I'm telling you this is that it sounds to me as if you might be suffering from depression. This is a REAL sickness, not just for wimps! (Winston Churchill, possibly the greatest leader on the last century, had it.) Your bioligical chemicals can go out of balance and make you see everything through a very dark cloud. This makes it very hard to cope with any bad news, and makes you feel hopeless, as if things are never going to get better. Your post shows that you are in New York. Winter can help to cause depression in many people, and this is an especially tough winter. I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you talk to a doctor and tell him/her how you feel. Ask about medication, and DON'T feel embarrassed about it! I take this medication (along with millions of other people) and it is a god-send! Taking this medicine doesn't mean you're crazy! It just gets your chemicals back in balance, so you can feel like your old self again. Mike Wallace, the old guy on 60 Minutes, who has been an incredible reporter for the last 50 years or so, is on this stuff permanently. He said something like, "If I had high blood pressure, I'd take medicine for it. Well, I have a chemical imbalance, and I'm going to take medicine for that, too." Good luck, man, and if you feel like it, keep us posted! |
