Angry US POST OFFICE ARRRGH!!

I am so annoyed!! I waited in line today for over 45 minutes to mail some packages. I have just recently started to do ebay and sold a few items. Now what i am annoyed at is when i quoted these people shipping i did it parcel post. NO biggie, i did state if you want priority i can give another price..etc..

Well one of the packages was for ground. It was a hokey pokey elmo and simba toys. She chose ground since we are basically one state away from each other. Now here is why i am annoyed. I get to post office, put the box on counter and the clerk snottily says, you know all parcel post is basically sitting on the docks not moving, if you want this to get to her BY christmas you better choose priority. If you don't choose priority it will take atleast 10 days to get there! Well what was i to do, i am not going to ruin this woman's childrens christmas for 4 dollars. But it sure made me mad. I mean they charge enough regardless of the level of shipping..parcel or priority. And why even offer parcel at this time of year then? Taking deep breaths...hahaha.

Re: US POST OFFICE ARRRGH!!

I don't offer parcel post during the holidays either. It seems like every year parcel post goes slower & slower, yet I shipped something 5 states away on Thursday & it was at their house on Friday afternoon!

Usually Priority Mail is just about the same cost as parcel post anyway & if it's over 5 lbs, then it's far better to go UPS or FedEx since they wind up being way cheaper.

Re: US POST OFFICE ARRRGH!!

Thank goodness for the PO in the Village!!! If I see 5 people TOTAL (checking P.O. boxes, mailing, etc..) I think I'd wonder what world event had them all buzzing about..LOL! I have gone to MY city's PO a couple of times and have always waited in a line...nopers, not for me!
Of course this just makes me look like more of a loser when it comes to mailing my pals' packages..LOL!

Re: US POST OFFICE ARRRGH!!

The line was so long Saturday here at the post office that there was at least an hour wait! So needless to say we just left and hit another one which was luck since the wait was only like 10 minutes there. :-)

And at the post office that had the hour wait.....there was a guy behind us who had a SHOPPING CART full of packages he was mailing! Yep, a SHOPPING CART!

Re: US POST OFFICE ARRRGH!!

I had 8 boxes of stuff. I think what annoyed me is it is a 2 person counter. The line is out the door, and when i got there, Line ONE the guy closed his line for a few minutes so another employee could take his place. Then Line 2..she shut down for like 15-20 minutes, meanwhile the postmaster comes out into lobby offering to take peoples STAMPED letters, when all i could think was...why aren't you taking a register? I think what irked me the most was the one postal worker telling me that all parcel post packages are basically sitting on the docks, not moving. Like that money didn't count.

No problem

You know, I wish there was an easier way to mail packages.

Soon I bet they will have "Self Checkout" at the post office, but you know for mailing packages.

Re: US POST OFFICE ARRRGH!!

I sent my towel pal and ornament with Mike yesterday to work. He was going to go out at lunch and mail for me. He created an account at [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] and did it from his computer. You fill out the information and then print out the label- just tape cover it and he put them in the shipping department box.

If you do a lot of Ebay- you would need a scale but hey- doing it from home would make a lot of sense.

Re: US POST OFFICE ARRRGH!!

I feel your frustration having to pay the extra amount. I went to the PO last weekend, waited an hour in line! There were 2 guys waiting on people, we have a small postoffice, but 1 hour??? I was not a happy camper. I only had 2 small packages to mail.

Re: US POST OFFICE ARRRGH!!

Ummmm....I sent off 14 packages today...2 good size boxes and the rest were smaller...I seriously had my arms full...I got to the P.O. 30 minutes before closing...a lady was at the left side of the counter filling out a money order and I went to the right side....didn't even have to wait a second. LOL! My packages worked out great in weight...I spent a few more dollars on each of the boxes, but the smaller packages sometimes only ran 20 cints more for priority. Ya'll are jealous now aye? LOL!
