What was the biggest thing you got out of your College Edu? Was it worth it?

Yes yes yes, its late and I am up, and that is a scary combination! So you are getting some questions! but seriously, what is the biggest thing you have used your College education for, was it worth it? the time and money it cost? Was it worth it finacially?

I did not finish college. Its nice to be able to put "some college" down on questionaires, but honestly I have no benefit from it. My husband did not go either.

Re: What was the biggest thing you got out of your College Edu? Was it worth it?

I didn't either- I graduated high school with a 4.0, 10th in a class of 400, a 1300 on the SAT and I got a 900 on the SAT in 7th grade which got me a free entrance to Duke- went through school thinking that was where I was going- found out real fast my parents didn't have the money for anything.

I went to school when I could- I have 300 credits- enough for 2 degrees but not enough in the same chain to get the official degree. I really don't care. I have talked to teachers I had in high school and they are shocked I didn't finish college.

College was too defining for me- I had too many areas that I excelled in and couldn't find one to concentrate on. I belong to Menses- I have an IQ over the charts- even my teachers admitted that I didn't conform.

Now I am a mom, after having a great career with a 6 figure salary- I am so happy playing with Maddy all day. It is my true calling and I know I am doing what I am meant to be everyday.

Re: What was the biggest thing you got out of your College Edu? Was it worth it?

Can't tell you yet...I'm still in school!

I think my deal is different because I have to actually have my degree to do what I want to do...and they expect you to get your Master's too.

But I guess I will have to say student loans...the school I am going to now is very expensive.

Makes me wish I hadn't left school to get married and have babies (I was a senior at Central Michigan University and my parents were paying for school). But like my mom says, I will have a lot more appreciation for the education I'm getting now because I'm paying for it (through the nose).

I spent 5 years in college. 5 years in an out-of-state school with out-of-state tuition. Ended up with two degrees. Worth every penny.

I'd say only about 20% of what you learn in college is in the classroom. You really are forced to grow up when you go to college. Especially if you go to a school far away and live on campus. I met all types of people and had a total blast!

I think it is very important to be "on your own" somewhat before you settle down. Sow those wild oats! You have the rest of your life to work full time. Enjoy those years between 18-21. Study hard in school and you can be almost anything you want to be.

Re: What was the biggest thing you got out of your College Edu? Was it worth it?

Good Question. I was blessed with a talent - Art. I ended up going to an exclusive Art College for Women after H.S. Big huge waste of my parent's money.

Then I went to another Art College and I retained a bit of what I learned, even though a lot of it was repetitive from College #1.

When I was in my early 40's I went back to College and made the Dean's list. I learned a ton, all of which is beneficial to me in my Real Life today.

As for what I do in my RL... web creation, maintenance, editing, proofing, web consulting and Google Answers Researcher - I'm self taught. No schooling for any of this.

I can't really answer that 'cause I'm still in college, but, do cute boys count? (LOL) There's some nice eye candy there. Oh, you mean my subjects??? It has increased my knowledge and knowledge is never wasted don't you think? I'm presently on the Dean's List so I must be doing something right.
