I asked mayor to pull Hot Potatoes.

I felt, and he agreed that that forum brought out the worst in us, and had spiraled out of control.

DealofDay.com is a place where people go to stretch their dollar..

Don't let the name of the site fool you.. There's plenty of back and forth, and that's what the site is designed for.. Unlike DoD.

I am most disappointed like it said, If you couldn't take the heat stay out of the kitchen, you should just have stayed away if it caused you to be ugly.

The Hot Potatoes forum had no business being on DoD. I'm glad it's gone. The agenda was not typical of a Message Board I wanted to be associated with. Do NOT flame me.

I posted there 2 times just so I could answer a general question. I lurked there at times and felt nothing good was ever going to come out of it. Mayor made a good decision. This is his house.

I was by no means the only one being ugly. I'll admit, that forum brought out the worst in me.

I didn't like the person I became in that board..

In fact, bwsmom warned me not to go in there, but I didn't listen.

DealofDay is a bargain site. Not a political site.

I didn't know it was gone, so I guess that means I don't miss it.

For the record, when I was working for Joel, he asked me if I thought the hot potatoes forum would be a good idea. I told him NO, that it would just pit members against each other. He chose to create that forum anyway. Since then, there have been MANY members asking him to take it away.

For the record, I kept my big mouth shut. No one knew what I was thinking, but it wasn't good. At times I felt tempted to leave DoD.

However, I signed on to be a Guide and didn't want to jump ship. My love of helping people kept me here, and I just kept hoping the HP Forum would fade away.

I kept my silence out of respect for Mayor and how he chose to run his house.

I was happy to hear/read/see that I was not the only one who thought it was inappropriate.

When Angus posted his plea to Mayor I immediately sent a "Report Post" to the mods - hoping it would be read. Yes, I know those reports are to report bad stuff, but I wanted to let the mods/Mayor know I agreed totally with Angus.

Along with the new and improved DoD changes in Format, Design, Color - removing HP was additional icing on the cake. Thank you again, for restoring my love of DoD.

Hmmm.

For a SAHM like myself, I personally enjoyed checking out the HP site and reading intelligent thoughts. I love politics especially and I thought HP was great. I don't get to take advantage of as many deals as I used to so I pretty much just use the GCC, Reality forum and HP here on DOD.

I posted a lot on HP and I don't feel it personally brought out the worst in me at all. I was never mean or antagonistic to anyone in any of the threads on HP.

Anyhow, I will miss HP.

I have mixed feelings. In a way, I'm glad its gone and not glad its gone. I just wish everyone, myself included, could have been a little more civil to each other and had some good discussions. I will miss Taxman and CagedTroll the most. They added new life to that forum and brought in some interesting posts. Other than that, I don't miss much else except the civil discussions but as of late those were getting few and far between. The board eventually got whittled down to a select group of people that had the same views on issues and anyone that came into the forum with an opposing view was immediately pounced upon. And it just went downhill from there. That part of HP I won't miss.
