Re: Table food question for moms

I believe it. 9 months isn't too young for some kids to start being potty trained.

Re: Table food question for moms

What???!!

Colin can't even walk now at 13 months let alone be potty trained!

Also, if the boy didn't still eat baby food he would starve to death. He is such a picky eater.

Colin could live on breast milk and Cheerios.

We are working on table food now.

Traci- if she likes to feed herself then you are seriously lucky. That is a good trait. Check out www.babycenter.com for great parenting and feeding tips.

Oh well . . . I guess it's still hard for me believe. But I'll just let my babies be babies. What, potty trained at 6 months, off to get a job at 3? Move out at 5? Start having their own children at 10?

Re: Table food question for moms

Mostly you should go by the individual baby and what they are ready to handle. If a certain food is too much for them you will know, they either won't want to eat it or it will upset their stomach.

Since Tom was two weeks overdue he was doing some stuff earlier than other babies his age and my doc told me to just go with that. I was on WIC at the time and we had a huge argument because they thought they knew more than my doctor but they are really just reading off papers printed by the government about average babies and have no real medical training whatsoever.

If she is doing well with it and the doc says she is healthy then ignore every one elses opinions and do what works for Madison!!!!

Re: Table food question for moms

I have been feeding my baby, who is almost 9 months table food since she was about 6 months. She pretty much eats whatever we eat. I just cut it up small enough so it doesn't get caught in her throat. She actually eats more than her to big sisters. She eats McD's fries and nuggets, you name it, she'll eat it.

I have also given her juice. I bought the Gerber indiviual 4 oz. juice, just for convenience. Just open it and put a nipple on it.

As far as breast feeding, she has weened herself. I planned on nursing for a year, but she stopped on her on. My other girls did the same. I do give her formula now though,

But, I don't see anything wrong with the way you feed your baby. As long as she is healthy, happy and growing fine.

Re: Table food question for moms

Good advice from everyone...

Flash's Mom made a big point of how her kids were all potty trained by the time they were 1 year old... DS took awhile longer then that... And she made sure to point it out every chance she got... But it's different with every baby. Also, she used cloth diapers, and I had the luxury of disposable diapers!!! If I had to use cloth diapers, DS probablly would have been potty trained at about 6 months old!!! She also didn't like the fact that I never breast fed... Well I didn't have a choice in that matter... My body made the choice for me, I just never was able to breast feed... Two of my sister's also had "problems" with it... Just some weird genetic thing I guess???

DS also took his time with walking... I did not "push" him... Heaven's no! Walking leads to climbing and running... If he wanted to take his time getting around to all that, well then who am I to argue???

When it came to baby food vs. table food and formula vs. milk and junk food, juices, soda, etc... I started him on baby cereal earlier then the Doc recommended, he did okay. I changed him from formula w/iron to milk before the Doc recommended, he did okay. I was giving him table food (started with mashed potatoes and chopped up mac & cheese) earlier then Doc recommended, he was okay... DS has always been in the higher percentiles on the height/weight graphs for his age... His pediatrician finally admitted that as long as he was healthy he was fine. Duh!

I gave DS watered down soda at about 6 months... By 1 he was allowed a little Sprite, 7-Up, or even Ginger Ale straight... Juices, I kept with the 100% juices, and diluted them... started at about 4 months actually--- More or less he would have a bottle of "flavored water" lol ...

I was always careful about bedtime... DS NEVER was put to sleep with a bottle... He would be finished with his bedtime bottle at least an hour before bedtime. I would not put him down for the night directly after eating. I NEVER left a bottle of formula/milk/juice with him for the night... but when he was old enough to hold his own bottle, I would put a 4oz bottle with water in it in his bed... If he woke up thirsty he would drink it... At about 8 months I left his Playtex sippy cup with water in his crib at night...

I knew a lady that when she took her DS to the dentist for his very first check-up at 18 months... he had 2 cavities!!! She always put him to bed (night time or nap time) with a bottle of something! You never want for your baby to go to sleep with residue of juice on their gums... It's bad for their teeth/gums!!! Thanks to her, My DS has never had a cavity... yet! (He's 8 1/2 now)

DS loved baby food fruit mixed with rice baby cereal... I actually will still buy a box of rice cereal and a few jars of bananas every once in awhile for him... We mix it up and call it banana rice pudding! I figure that it's probablly a very healthy snack for him! And sometimes if I buy the Tutti Fruity baby food... Shhhh!!! Flash will eat it!

Wow! I just previewed my post... it's long...

Re: Table food question for moms

OMG you say an adult eating Tuitti Fruity babyfood like it's a BAD thing! LOL! YUMMY!!!!

Now I never allowed my kids soda...for...a LONG time..I imagine I gave them a sip now and then. I knew this girl who once filled a baby bottle with MOUNTAIN DEW for her 6 month old!!!! I FREAKED! The kids still do not drink much soda and most of the time it's the clear sodas w/o caffeine.

Hee hee...baby cereal was a God send...Kyle had it at 2 weeks old..Logan about 1 1/2 old and Codey within' a week!! My bambinos were just little piggies

That walking and potty training deal..Kyle walked at I believe 8 1/2 months old...it was like he wasn't even a BABY for long. The other 2 walked around 1 yro. Now the potty training...UGH UGH!! Kyle was a bear...Logan was a lot easier and Codey...well...he NEVER had an accident once we started with the big-boy potty. It amazes me to this day how these kids can share the same genes yet be COMPLETELY different.

I always knew when Matt had broccoli because his poop would be green. Not a bright green, but definitely greenish. Same thing would happen with blue foods, too (like blue frosting on cake). It's less noticeable now that he uses the toilet instead of a diaper, but he's young enough that I still wipe his bum for him so I can sorta see it. And wouldn't you know, broccoli is one of his favorite foods.
