Amber Alert Issued for 10 Year Old Palmdale California Girl

The CHP has activated an Amber Alert after the girl was abducted late Monday, November 3. The child requires regular medication for acute asthma and is considered in extreme danger. This alert is currently local although she has been missing for over 24 hours as of the activation.

Sharie Simmons was abducted in Palmdale California on Monday afternoon.

The CHP has activated a local Amber Alert but she has been missing for over 24 hours as of the alert activation. She is a 10 year old Black Female 4'02", 75 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing pink pajamas and glasses.

Police are looking for Duran Edward Lyles a Black Male, 5'06", 120 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes.

The vehicle is described as silver 2003 Chevrolet Venture (mini van) with paper dealer plates from Community Chevrolet.

Amber Alert Updated for 9 Year Old Toronto Canada Girl

Cecilia Zhang remains missing, although the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) canceled the Amber Alert late Tuesday morning.

According to Constable Mike Hayles of the Toronto Police Communications division, the OPP canceled the alert because they felt it had done its job by alerting everyone to the fact the Cecilia was missing, and that media coverage was extensive.

So, while the official provincewide alert has been canceled, Cecilia remains missing, and CodeAmber.org will continue its efforts at the request of the Toronto Police Dept.

The Toronto police issued the Amber Alert after the girl was found missing from her bedroom and there was evidence of forced entry into the room on Monday morning October 20.

Cecilia was apparently abducted through her bedroom window in Toronto Ontario Canada early Monday morning October 20.

She is a Chinese female, 9 Yrs., 4'11", 70 lbs. with shoulder length black hair with blond highlights and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing her night clothes.

Police have not released any suspect or vehicle information at this time.

LOS ANGELES -- Authorities said Wednesday Sharie Renee Simmons, 10, a severely asthmatic girl who was allegedly kidnapped by her cousin, Duran Lyles, 33, a registered sex offender, has been found and she is safe and the suspect is in custody.

Simmons was taken to a nearby police station to be released to her mother Wednesday around 7:30 a.m.

According to police, the silver 2003 Chevrolet Venture minivan driven by Lyles was found at a gas station in Arleta, Calif.

Sharie disappeared earlier this week with her cousin, an alleged drug addict.

According to sheriff's Deputy Alba Yates, the girl left her home in Palmdale, Calif., without her respirator and was last seen in the 36000 block of Justin Court about 6 p.m. Monday. She was with Lyles.

Authorities said the girl, the subject of an AMBER Alert, needed her nebulizer inhalant machine, which she ordinarily uses every four hours, Yates said. Glynis Fitzpatrick, Sharie's mother, said she allowed her nephew to borrow her van to go to a nearby convenience store and Sharie asked to go along to get some Cheetos.

"I've been up all night. I'm wondering about my daughter. I'm wondering where she is, why she hasn't called me," she told reporters Tuesday. "And I feel so guilty because I allowed her to go with him. I can never forgive myself. Never."

Fitzpatrick said her other daughter opted to stay home with her. About an hour later, she said she realized Sharie and Lyles had not returned, "and immediately I knew something was wrong."

Deputy Rich Pena said Lyles is a registered sex offender in Virginia, where he did time for spousal rape -- a crime that did not involve children. He has no permanent address in California.

"He's making some bad decisions because he's on drugs," said Sharon James, Lyle's mother.

"He's not using common sense," James said. "Like I said, (he's) making bad decisions because of his drug addiction, but I know that no way would Duran ever do anything to hurt Sharie."

Since the van had little fuel, and Lyles had little money, detectives thought he was still in the Antelope Valley area Wednesday, where overnight temperatures fell to freezing levels.

Fitzpatrick said Lyles is her nephew, but they are just three years apart and grew up as brother and sister.

"He's been in my home. I've never seen anything ... out of the ordinary. She's never said he's tried to do anything to her," Fitzpatrick said. "But she's not home now, so something is wrong."

Fitzpatrick said her daughter's asthma is chronic.

"Sharie cannot run up the stairs without going into an asthmatic attack," Fitzpatrick said.

She said Sharie needed to undergo inhalant machine treatments every four hours.

"It's very life-threatening," Fitzpatrick said. "She's had two episodes where we almost lost her."
