Red face How many kids did you have trick or treating at your house?

Usually we get 25 max, last night it was 49! That's a record for around here, there aren't that many kids in my neighborhood. After I left work last night I went to the drugstore, bought 5 bags of candy, now normally I'd only have bought 2 bags, but for some reason, I thought I'd need more. Good thing too.
I love the little kids. One little girl, she must have been around age 2-1/2, she had on a Princess outfit, talk about cute as a button. I said how pretty her costume was, her Dad said, she likes your costume too, yet she never uttered a word. It's so much fun dressing in costume for the kids. I even got comments last night about nice my costume was. It was a feel good night, and there were no pranks so that made it nice too.

Re: How many kids did you have trick or treating at your house?

DH took 13-month-old Colin (a.k.a. Mr. Pumpkin) around to about 6 houses.

We only got about 20 kids last night. The least amount in the four years that we've lived in this neighborhood.

None. All kids in the area go to other areas.

Re: How many kids did you have trick or treating at your house?

We had over 100. It was a decent night. Last year was so cold and windy. I gave out chips and when they ran out my mom ran and bought some candy. She had to buy from the bulk section because bagged candy was sold out! I was so proud of my boys using their manners last night while trick-or-treating. They really did a great job. Talk about a happy mom!

Re: How many kids did you have trick or treating at your house?

We usually have at least 125 but this year we probably only had 1/2. I think a lot of people didn't go out because of the fires, but the air quility is fine now.

Re: How many kids did you have trick or treating at your house?

We normally have 200 or so but for some reason we only had maybe 100-125 last night....it was a beautiful day so we thought there would be more but there were more kids running around with shaving cream and eggs than there were trick or treating. The trees here are all decked out in toilet paper!

Re: How many kids did you have trick or treating at your house?

8 Trick or Treaters. Our county has a plethora of adults who used to T or T as children, but will not allow their own to do so because in the past (on tv news) a few deranged people distributed treats they had tampered with, And - there is a huge amount of the population that has taken a few horror movie dialogues too seriously, and they think their tots will burn forever in hellfire for begging candies from neighbors. Something about pagan rituals. Good Grief, Charlie Brown, I've never seen witches burned at the stake nor has the local streets run red with the blood of living sacrifices. Compensation for anti-Trick or Treating guilt is overcome locally by a huge amount of masquerade gatherings held at church's, clubs and organizations of all kinds. The little ones have a blast and that's all that matters. The get-togethers are given seasonal names - all are good, it seems, as long as the blasphemous Halloween word is not used !

Re: How many kids did you have trick or treating at your house?

We had half the kids that we usually have and I expected more on a Friday. It was cold, but I still thought it strange that so many people were not passing out candy. MANY dark houses...

My kids ended up getting more candy because many people wanted to get rid of it.

Re: How many kids did you have trick or treating at your house?

We had 10 kids show up - it was just too cold here for most of the kids to go out again. They have two big indoor places to go (the mall and the senior center) so most parents just take their kids there and leave it at that.

Mine went to the indoor places and around two blocks with some friends - they came home after 15 minutes complaining that it was freezing. They did have full buckets though because each house had given out big handfuls of candy since there was the normal lack of kids showing up.

You think the other houses would learn & would stop buying all that candy. This year, I just handed out packs of microwave popcorn - it's only $2 for a box of 15 full size bags at WalMart & I figured at least it was something we could eat if it didn't get handed out.

Re: How many kids did you have trick or treating at your house?

All that praying that it would rain on the Southern California fires worked too well! We had to T or T in the rain! I can't remember the last time it rained on Halloween. It's usually too hot for warm costumes! It was okay since it was hopefully helping the fires. We only had about 40 kids which is way down from last year. Only about 1/2 as many were handing out candy too. I don't know if people were elsewhere since it fell on Friday this year or what. Maybe the rain kept some kids from going. We had quite a bit of candy leftover. We had people giving extra to our kids too because they didn't get enogh kids.

None that is one of the few things I miss about living in town. I really enjoyed the little kids. But the rest of the time I love living in the country.

Re: How many kids did you have trick or treating at your house?

So Sad I had 3. And of course they came together!

I just bought my house and I bought glow bracelets & Candy to give out. Thought I was going to be the cool house. Little did I know I would not get any kids.....

The one lady that came with her kids informed me that we never get any tricker or treaters (she lives up the street).
So Sad i thought glow bracelets were such a good idea. Our trick or treat in Halloween night and there are no street lights in my neighborhood.

Oh well atleast ill know for next year!
