| Re: Military Move question...... I don't know about that one Kristin, but there is a relocation discussion board on military.com where you might ask. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] We are just looking at moving into military housing LOL.

Thank you bassmount. Ya saved me alot of typing. You are absolutely correct. At least that's the way it was while I was in the military. So ghostie79, I wouldn't worry. Uncle Sam will take care of you.

| Re: Military Move question...... Yes, they will pay to move you back to your home of record. And you have 2 options; you can either let them come in pack and move you all for free UNLESS, you go over the weight limit and then you have to pay the difference. However, most people don't go over the limit. Your second option is to do a DITY (do-it-yourself) move. You rent the truck, back your bags and move the stuff on your own. In this case, the heavier the better as you get paid by the pound up to your limit. (This is based on rank, for example, an E-4 with dependants gets 6,000 pounds. Although I believe the weight limits were increased recently.) When my husband and I got base housing we moved from town to post (6 miles) and did it all in one day. The truck and boxes cost us about $120 and we got a check for almost $800. DITY moves pay very well, so I'd seriously consider doing it. A cross-country move can make you several thousand dollars. Good luck!
