Considering he's currently committing adultry, and now has a baby with his new girlfriend, I highly doubt his religious beliefs are getting in the way.

here is the email address that you can write to in order to help save Terri's life. As you know, the Senate will be voting on Terri's law that will put the tubes back into her tonight so she can be fed and nourished. The house speaker of the Florida Senate is Sen. James King.

This is completely tragic.

Angry Gov. Bush orders woman's feeding tube reinserted!

This is just horrendous. She doesn't want it. Let the woman die with some dignity. It's been 13 YEARS with no improvement whatsoever.

Would I want to 'live' like that for 13 years? NO WAY
BUT, I am NOT convinced that this is what Terri would have wanted (having the feeding tube removed)
Something about her husband just rubs me the wrong way.......

oops, sorry for the duplicate post. I didn't even check the regular chit-chat forum first. I figured it would be a hot topic for sure!

Ya think?
Ya know, I'm sooooo torn on this. Because, on one hand, I TOTALLY support assisted suicide. I think it's an incredibly humane thing to do in specific situations.
There's just something about THIS case that rubs me the wrong way. That maybe the husband isn't acting in his wife's best interest????????
So, for that reason, I don't think the feeding tube should have been pulled.....yet, anyway.

I just went and read through all the posts on the other thread, including the link to her family's site. I guess my feeling is this: if it is really true that the husband has stopped all further treatment and has banned doctors from talking (which I didn't know a spouse has the right to do), then I wish Gov. Bush or the courts would have ordered independent doctors to come in and evaluate the case. Why wasn't that done before?

I didn't read the site intensly, but does it say how she responds to her family?

We could always make it a "HOT" topic!!!

I wouldn't want to go on her condition, but the clip that keeps getting shown on the tube is her smiling. As if in response to an outside stimulus. That's not a coma, IMO. That's also not something that needs to be shown without being explained. Like "Kill Bill, Volume 1" Uma Thurman's character is in a coma for four years and she's described as a "spitter", and that's described as some kind of reflex action. But that's a movie. If I'm watching the news I'd like a more detailed analysis of the medical reality.

But..., I'd personally still rather be dead. I'd rather not have to starve to death (just put a bullet in me, I'm done...). I'd rather the lawyers and politicians and media stayed out of it. Something about them getting involved and offering their worthless opinions makes life and death a lot dirtier than it absolutely has to be anyway.

I wanna know why they keep referring to her as "the lady in a coma"...
I agree with what others have said...if it were I...I wouldn't want to spend the rest of my days in that condition, BUT if it were my hubby...I don't think I could let him go...I mean, Terri appears aware of her surroundings..if it was a COMA..then yeah, I could do the "right thing" and go by Kenny's wishes.

This is just a point maker for having your affairs in order. I'm sure not one person would really want to live out their days on Earth like this, BUT from a legal stand it is all hearsay and the courts will most likely always rule in favor of living, when there are two sides telling different stories. If you do not want to live like this, make a living will NOW, not later. Same goes with an estate will and/or guardianship of your minor children. Take care of things now, before it is too late for you to do anything about them. I feel sorry for both sides.

Good point Bassmount. The things we put off until it's too late!!

Take a look at the picture today of her...it looks as if she's leaning forward and smiling....[Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]

This will end up ruining the husband life if he continues to push the issue IMO.

What you AREN'T hearing about are the allegations that her husband BEAT her, which is why she may have had a heart attack in the first place.

Go to her site and watch video of how she responds to her mother. This woman is NOT brain dead.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]

Her husband has taken up with another woman and had a baby with her. He sued for malpractice and won $1,000,000, which he has NOT used for the care of Terri. Something is terribly wrong here.

And, feeding is NOT life support people. A little common sense goes a long way here.

Mayor

I heard this morning on NPR that many doctors who have seen her, are giving the advice to pull the tubes to her husband. From what I caught, one neurologist who has been seeing her for a while said that she is in fact brain dead. That although her eyes are open and she looks awake, she is not. The "responses" are nothing more than the "normal" body reflexes that can happen to people who are brain dead and it was giving her family false hopes. I myself have seen these "reflexes" and we thought this family member had "woke up," they had not and eventually expired. If this is true, then they need to take her off of the tubes and see if she will in fact respond. I also was faced with the feeding tubes issue last year. We did have them removed and they woke up. What I am saying is this, sometimes the body can become accustom to someone "helping" it and may never respond while being "helped." Maybe if taken off the tubes, she would respond, maybe even fully wake up and if not maybe it would be her time to go. We can't leave this world for any reason unless someone of a greater power wants us to. If that greater power does not want her to go, she will stay no matter what. No, it isn't easier to deal with, but with so many in my family, this is how I understand all of this now. Point being no matter how you believe, or don't believe, there is always something that keeps you here. Be it the will to live, God's intervention, the Goddess showing her mercy ... or even just fate. She would not have been here this long with or without the tubes if someone had wanted her to go. She will stay here with or without the tubes by the same accord.
