Re: What's everyone reading these days?

I just started reading "Intruders", not sure who the author is, someone left it on the bookstand at work. A real good book though, about actual UFO abductions. That'll keep me awake at night

Re: What's everyone reading these days?

A Map of the World by Jane Hamilton

This was an Oprah book club selection and my mom gave it to me to read. They were both WRONG! It was so depressing. I finished the first part and called my mom to ask her if it got worse...I really wasn't going to read it. She wouldn't tell me....it got worse.

But of course, she's the one who gave me The Lovely Bones to read while my baby was hospitalized...yikes.

I'm going to check out some of the funny books that everyone has recommended.

Re: What's everyone reading these days?

My book club read "Map of the World" a few months ago. Most Oprah books are depressing now that you mention it.

I'm currently reading "King of Torts" by John Grisham. Good fast-paced book.

The next book I have to read for my book club is "Prodigal Summer" by Barbara Kingsolver. Anyone read it? I've never read anything by Kingsolver before.

Yes! I loved it. But I love Barbara Kingsolver. I've read "The Bean Trees" and "Pigs In Heaven." The second one is a sequel to the first. I just love her writing style in these, and it's very different than it is in "The Poisonwood Bible," for which I think she deserved a Pulitzer. "The Poisonwood Bible" is on my list of favorite books of all time.

Re: What's everyone reading these days?

Kristin, for a really good laugh with a little spice & excitement try the Janet Evanovich series of Stephanie Plum. Series starts with One for the Money......this is a terrific series.

On the more in depth side, I just finished The DaVinci Code. I really enjoyed it.....I'm going to see if I can get his earlier book Angel of Demons from the library.

Nothing like a good book on a cold winter night

Re: What's everyone reading these days?

"Last Chance Saloon" by Marian Keyes ... this one has more adult situations, and, again, her witty Irish/British humor.
