Major problem! Can use alot of prayers and good wishes right now!

I have to make this quick. This is the first time I have been able to get online since everything yesterday. I am at home and will be leaving shortly so I may not be online until later tonight again.

Yesterday when I got to my store I found it flooded. As you know, the roof was being repaired and they quit working on it after 1 day. They had tarps up there but with the heavy rain we had on Tuesday night they just could not handle all the water. Anyway, I got there at 8:30 am and was greeted by a waterfall. My cash register, jewelry case, computer, vaccum cleaner, several boxes of clothing, as well as many more items were sitting in water. The damage has been estimated so far to be around $3500.

We were at the store until after 8 pm last night trying to clean up. It is still a mess. The landlord REFUSES to return our calls. The roofer isn't wanting to accept any responsibility and we have contacted an attorney. We took pictures as well as had witnesses come to see the damage.

I didn't eat anything at all yesterday and had a migraine out of this world. I didn't sleep last night. My hubby and I were up until 1 am making lists of items damaged. This is my worst nightmare come true.

We need all your prayers right now. We are hoping we can get things cleaned up enough so we can open next week. We also are currently making calls like crazy to try to get another building. The building inspector is coming today and we are filing yet another complaint. (it seems that yesterday he was busy and was unable to come down. )

I don't know what else to say or do at this moment but I wanted all my friends to know what is going on. I will keep you updated when I can.

Seems you have had so much trouble with your store and the buildings that you've housed your business in. I will sure pray for you and for a good outcome. It sounds to me like someone should be liable for this!

Oh Lisa I am so sorry to hear about this~ I know how horrible it is to have your business out of commission and in a devastating state don't even know where to begin cleaning up and then trying to figure out how to maintain the income coming in too~ Know I will be praying for you at this time, I hope for the best for you and your husband~

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry to hear of your problems. That's just terrible! I think if I were you I'd find another place to move your store to and not have to deal with your landlord who is ignoring you. That's just not right, you are paying him rent and that's how he treats you? I'd be one mad puppy about that one.

Plus the money you are out, talk about one major migraine!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that everything works out OK. Chin up kid, it could've been worse. At least it wasn't a fire.

I do have one question for you though if you don't mind me asking. Did you have the info of all the people who consign clothing with you solely on that computer, or did you also have a back up, like a handwritten card file on them?

I'm sorry I will pray for you!! Remember that God only gives us what we can handle. He will also help you to get through it!! Put it in God's hands and allow Him to deal with it. ((HUGS))

It is so hard to accept when something bad like this happens, but with all the prayers going your way I hope you will rise out of it the victor. You can be sure I'm in on the prayers.

I do have one question for you though if you don't mind me asking. Did you have the info of all the people who consign clothing with you solely on that computer, or did you also have a back up, like a handwritten card file on them?

I had just converted over to the computer system a few months ago. Luckily for me hubby was able to salvage the info in the computer. Being the lucky one.......he managed to get the computer dried out and cleaned up enough to get it to run my program long enough to get copies printed! Thank God for miracles! I am now considering going back to my old method of keeping track of items.

Thanks all for your prayers. I know God will handle this situation. It sure helps to be able to share though with friends. I have been so stressed to the max it isn't funny.

We talked to the attorney today and there is no doubt we have a case. Luckily we keep a log of everything.

The landlord and roofing company still aren't wanting to talk to us. But we are praying that we can settle this out of court if at all possible. At this point in time we are not going to speak to either one of them should they decide to talk without another person being present. (on advice of our attorney)

We found out that the roofing company has NOT filed a claim and has NO intention of doing so. So we are hoping that we can use this to get them to pay us without going to court.

The building inspector was called in today and yet ANOTHER complaint filed. We don't know what will come of this but we were VERY adamant that something be done. (this makes our 10th complaint against our landlord)

I will keep you all updated. I have a feeling that this will be a long battle. Although I am praying it not be and that it can be resolved without going to court. <fingers crossed>
