Angry My dog hates her bath

My chiahuaha hates taking her bath... Everytime I try she crys and trys to jump out of the tub... I get more wet than her.

What I found that did work is when my son got in with her... .LOL
But I told him he cant bathe with her everytime LOL

Any hints on making puppy bath time more fun ?

My dogs hate baths! A few helpful hints - put a rubber bath mat or a towel inside the tub. This prevents slipping and makes them feel much more secure. Also have some treats handy - make it something your dog loves, a special treat she only gets when she has a bath. Good Luck!

Maybe using a plastic dishpan in the kitchen sink. You'll have more control, and the pup can be right up by you. It might help to soothe her some.

My female went through a spell where she didn't like baths too. I'm sure it was quite comical watching me trying to pick up a 100lb great dane and get her in the tub. I've always got in the tub with them to bathe them. It's too hard on my back otherwise. And I figure I'm going to get soaked anyway....I might as well try to keep the entire bathroom from getting soaked too...lol.

Ummmm...I DO wear clothes when I bathe them. Usually a bathing suit. Appropriate, huh...roflmao.

Rolling eyes

Actually my Maizey's first bath was a shower with me LOL then I knew from there trouble LOL I am going to try the treat thingy and the dishpan and the sink at the same time... maybe with it being a smaller area and a treat will make it better ...

I sure hope so cause with the scratching and dry skin she needs her mouisturizing bath twice a week now ....

scratching and dry skin on dogs is usually caused by something much different than for humans. Too many baths will cause dry skin, by stripping the dogs natural oils from their skins. Food allergies can cause dry skin, as well as other allergies. even too harsh of shampoo or a residue can cause it. Sometimes a trip to the vet can help solve the cause.

Sorry to hear about your puppers!

Lightbulb We bathe our cats and

they are not always crazy about it.
Sometimes as an alternative I buy those pet wipes.
They are a pretty good size and come in a container like Baby Wipes. I can usually find them for about $1.50 and when lucky at the Dollar Store.

Girlfriend, you are on the ball! I hope this stuff works for your pup, and she will get use to the bathing. Thats hilarious about the shower. I am caught in a vicious cycle with my dog, because the more I bathe her the more she stinks! I think I am going to look for those doggy wipes AndersonGal was talking about.
