 MSN Free 1 year subscription, what a joke
I know I read about this same topic here, but I did a search and can't find it anywhere. We got a free 1 year trial subscription to MSN internet that came with our computer, back in 2001. We never used it. Just today a bill came for $65 for Oct. Nov. and Dec. 2002 internet service. It says they tried to charge my credit card (something I NEVER authorized them to do) and thank goodness my credit card turned them down. So they sent a bill, a suspicious one with no phone number where I can call or anything, just a P.O. box. I just reported them to the BBB, and hope that's enough. Anyone else have this same problem, and what did you do? We got the free one year subscription when we bought our computer at Best Buy. Best Buy signs you up for MSN and gives them your credit card information if you pay with a credit card!! My advice is to call MSN. Once I did they removed the charge from our credit card (it took a while but it did hit our account) with no problem. To find the customer svc number go to www.msn.com and poke around until you find the customer service number. Oh I cant stand MSN!!!! (though msn.com is where i have my support group only because of what they offer for free sigh....) But their Internet service stinks!!! First of all... our local phone company offered dsl so we took it... then MSN bought them out... ok fine I dealt with it... within a couple of weeks we were NEVER online when with DSL you were supposed to be online all the time... Then their Customer No Service "trouble shot" my computer to smithereens and cost us 100 dollars to get fixed!!!! Then we cancelled the service (no brainer there lol) and they continued to charge us even after we sent them back their modem... I called every month for three months and then blew and utter fuse and started screaming and cussing to which they hung up on me three times OHHHHHH!@!!!!!!! (ok ok so i was outta control by then... good thing the kids were in school at the time LOL!!!) THEN i called one last time and said LOOK YOU are the ones STEALING FROM ME not the other way around and if i want to rant rave and swear that is MY RIGHT so you better get ready for an earful... well they listened but it had already been sent to COLLECTIONS!!!!! Well it took SIX MONTHS to sort it all out, but finally I got that taken care of and we got our money back plus then some!!!!! The computer was acting up again only to discover the MSN programming had once again messed up the computer (dont ask me how as we had deleted the programming and hadnt had MSN internet for several months by this point) and 50 bucks later its finally running halfway decent... that was well over a year ago. My best advice is when you get the MSN free offer tell them NO and DO NOT install the programming at all!!!!!
