Wink Updates - What happened to Alexia & My latest Dr Appt.

Now I have two doctors - my OB and the Maternal - Fetal Specialists, that are almost positive they know what happened to Alexia. A Placental Abruption - that's where the placenta seperates before birth. Both doctors said that it's the only thing they know of that could have possibly accounted for Alexia's condition at birth and for the intolerable pain I described. The signs were there - her heartrate dropping, the pain, the blood in the fluid and the doctor did NOTHING. So, yeppers.. mark my words. We are smelling a lawsuit here.

Results from my appointment with the Maternal fetal doctor - Ultrasound shows every A-ok! I'm probably going to have two ultrasounds a month from here on out (one from my regular OB and one from the Maternal - fetal) and a whol only thing they know of that could have possibly accounted for Alexia's condition at birth and for the intolerable pain I described. I'm probably going to have two ultrasounds a month from here on out (one from my regular OB and one from the Maternal - fetal) and a whole lot of non-stress tests (for heartrate). Since I've had a Placental Abruption before, it puts me at a higher risk for another one, but the doctor said unless I have one of the certain types of conditions or something else (I forgot what), chances are it won't happen again. I had blood work done yesterday to make sure I don't have whatever it was that would make it more of a definate thing. I should know the results from that at the end of the week.

Now, for the news everyone has been waiting for ----

IT'S A BOY!!!

Dh & I are both thrilled! I was kinda rootin' for a girl, but either was fine by me. Plus, I seriously questioned my motives behind wanting a girl. I didn't want, for one single second, myself or anyone else thinking I was trying to replace Alexia and now that the baby's a completely different gender, there shouldn't be any doubt or question about it.

Man, DOD is making it impossible to read posts!

Anyway, after sorting through the mess . . .

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! I love little baby boys.

And also - a placental abruption makes total sense . . . I can't believe they didn't deal with it correctly, it's something they should surely know about and know how to deal with if they've been in the business more than a week.

Oh well . . . here's to the future of your baby boy, I can't wait to meet him.

Oh Jen, what an exciting time for all of you! I'm thrilled to hear that things are progressing nicely
You'll have to post some prego pics, would love to see the belly
Another lil boy huh? That's it, you've been outnumbered
Please, if it weren't for the fact that we have a female dog I'd be the ONLY female in the house.
Take care of yourself!

Naomi

LOL! Naomi, I'm not outnumbered yet!! If ya count the dogs and the cat, there are a total of 4 females and 3 males. This little one just makes us even.

Thanks everybody for the hugs, prayers, etc! I'd post the pictures from the ultrasound, but honestly, *I* had trouble making out which end was which (and this was suppose to be a high class ultrasound??). The pictures were much larger than the ones I got with my other regular ultrasounds too. I'll save him embarassment later and not post his little "turtle" picture - woo yeah. it's definately a boy! LOL!

I have NO idea what to name him. I always have trouble with boys names.. took dh & I until just a few days before Cody

I have NO idea what to name him. I always have trouble with boys names.. took dh & I until just a few days before Cody was born to come up with a name for him! The kids are throwing out suggestions, but nothing I like so far. I think my dh would like to have the name William in there somewhere, after his grandfather, but I don't know for sure if he still wants to do that (Alexia would have been William Samuel if she was a boy, after both our grandfathers).
