Most of us would rather be too skinny.

Funny how they say such a large percentage of Americans are overweight. Is that why we would rather be 2 skinny? If most Americans were underweight would we rather be 2 fat?

Nope. For me, it is strictly health reasons.

LocaChica is welcome here
I don't know what's meant by too fat, but if too fat is +30 pounds over my current weight and too skinny is -30 pounds, I'd rather be too fat.

Too fat.

Actually from my experience a person's weight does not neccassarily reflect their healthiness. I've been overweight the majority of my life and I'm actually fairly healthy. In the last ten years the only times I've needed to see a doctor for being ill it was for strep throat and an infection in my leg. And when I was pregnant, of course .

Just saying that being overweight does not mean that you've got health problems.

I don't think anyone was trying to say that if you are overweight that you get sick more, or that you have ongoing health problems. They are just stating that you are at more of a risk of being unhealthy...such as stroke, diabetes, heart attack, etc. if you are overweight. This mainly has to do with the fact that overweight people are more sedentary and eat unhealthier foods that have negative effects on their bodies in the long run. We are not talking about short term effects here.

being too under weight has some serious health risks also, such as bone loss, muscle mass loss, heart problems, feminine problems stemming from amenorrhea, anemia, fatigue. I am not sure that one extreme isn't as serious health wise as the other extreme.

You may be right, I don't know. But I just cannot see it. Perhaps maybe there just aren't that many people out there who are "too skinny" who suffer from these problems. But there are many people out there who are "too fat" who suffer from major problems.
