| Re: Do you read to your kids before they sleep? I really admire all you parents who read to your kids every night! What special memories! I do read to my kids, but its a sacrifice of LOVE I tell you-lol. This summer we read the hobbit. And I have this special thing I do with the kids where I sneak one out of bed, and we will go through a book together for a few weeks, with a little cup of tea. That is fun. My kids do read out loud to me, but its because I homeschool, so its part of the curriculum.

| Re: Do you read to your kids before they sleep? I always read to Madison at 8 months old and I always tell her when I go to put her in the crib, "I love you, I had the best day with you and I can't wait for tomorrow with you." I really hope she will cherish this as she gets older and know that Mommy will be here for her when she wakes up.

| Re: Do you read to your kids before they sleep? Quote:
From the Amazon website: "The mother sings to her sleeping baby: "I'll love you forever / I'll love you for always / As long as I'm living / My baby you'll be." She still sings the same song when her baby has turned into a fractious 2-year-old, a slovenly 9-year-old, and then a raucous teen. So far so ordinary--but this is one persistent lady. When her son grows up and leaves home, she takes to driving across town with a ladder on the car roof, climbing through her grown son's window, and rocking the sleeping man in the same way. Then, inevitably, the day comes when she's too old and sick to hold him, and the roles are at last reversed." This book is amazing. I can't even think about it without tearing up. I still sing it to my kids (ages 12,14 and 20) |

| Re: Do you read to your kids before they sleep? I've heard of that book- I need to get it. It makes me teary everytime I read part of it. That's the book that Joey on Friends read as his "gift" to Emma for her 1st Birthday party!

| Re: Do you read to your kids before they sleep? I used to read to my girls everynight. But now that they are older, we have gotten out of the habit. My oldest (12), likes to read by herself for awhile before bed, and once in awhile youngest (9) does. My youngest is gifted, and is currently reading a 7th grade level book (she's in third grade). Often, I will also read whatever book they are on at the moment, and we discuss it later. |

| Re: Do you read to your kids before they sleep? Every night and at nap we read to our children. Ever since our oldest (19) was little. He enjoyed books like the early Hardy Boy Mysteries and Maurgerite Henry. My girls - 14 & 9 enjoyed The Little House books, Horse Stories, and Lois Lenski. The little ones like classics like Ping, Make Way for Ducklings, Yonie Wondernose - basically any story with good character lessons or about animals. Honey For a Child's Heart has some very good suggested reading for children of all ages. We homeschool too so reading just becomes a part of a normal day. ![]()
