Thanks everyone for all the tips. Well Colin is doing a lot better! He slept through the night last night (Yay!). He still has a little cough and is congested. Plus his cry is a little hoarse. Seems better than he was on Saturday though so that is good. I am still nursing him so it is hard to know how much fluids he is getting.
Glad to hear he is doing better!! As long as you are nursing him, he will not dehydrate!

I am not familiar with "Bronchiolitis" at all. Is that like adult bronchitis? I read about croup but don't know what it sounds like but I don't think this is it. I am going to ask my Dr. about Delsym. We have Robutussin here but it isn't the one for babies.
They say, if it is croup, there is a very distinctive barking cough noise, kind of like a seal. And you would definitely know that it is croup.

Bronchiolitis is very common among babies around 6 months old and older. Gosh, I forget everything about it, because my son is 21 months now. But I think it is kind of like adult bronchitis. My son needed an inhaler (albuterol) when he had it. Ever since he had it a year ago, he has been having asthma symptoms. Also, all the babies I know who had it, had it around this time of the year.

It's best not to give him any of that cold medicine. He needs to fight his illnesses off on his own to build his immune system. Those cold medicines can drug our kids! My doc tells me only to give my son cold medicine (if needed) at night before bed, that way he wont be affected by all the side affects.

The last link actually tells you the difference between bronchitis and bronchiolitis, and that is:
Bronchitis is inflammation of the large airways in the chest and pneumonia is inflammation of the lung. Bronchiolitis is inflammation of the smaller airways connecting the two.

Thanks nrages. Good to know about those sites! Usually I go to webmd.com because that is the only one I was familiar with.

Colin is pretty much all better!! Yay! He slept last night for 10 hours straight. (That is how much he was normally sleeping until this past Saturday when he got sick.) He coughed only maybe 3 times today so I was extremely pleased.

Now my DH has a cough! He thinks he got it from Colin coughing and sneezing in his face! Goodness! Never a dull moment in this house!

Thanks again everyone for the wonderful tips! You guys are the best!

~Shaina

Yeeeaaa Colin! My oldest had bronchiolitis when he was just a couple of months old...UGH..then it went to an ear infection from there. Lemme tell ya, being a first time Mommy at the time made me ask many times "What the heck am I doing?!?!?!" LOL! Well, we all go through times when we're not sure what EXACTLY to do....asking questions is always a GREAT start tho! Hope your hubby gets to feeling better...let's cross our fingers that it flies right past you..LOL!
