Big grin DoD product testing central

Who wants to do this? After reading Cashhounds thread about shiny hair, and stuff that worked I thought maybe we could start a thread, and list products on it that we know work. Maybe something new that we just bought, and it works, or an oldie. Sort of share the knowledge. It could be a product about anything, from laundry secrets, to cleaning products, to makeup, to hair care, to lotion, whatevah baby. What do you think?

Ok, I am trying Jergens Naturally Smooth lotion. You put it on after you shave, and its suppoes to make your hair grow back slower, and finer, after 6 weeks. Well I am on day 2, so I will get back to you on this if it works.

One thing I do know that works for zits, is that clearasel. Put a dab on when you first get the teeniest of zits, and it will dry it up before it grows any bigger, at least in my case. And it made them heal a lot quicker also.

I just tried that new L'oreal Color Expert Multi-Tonal Coloring System, and I love it! That's the new kit that has regular coloring PLUS streaking/highlighting. (We were talking about it in another thread.) The streaking is supposed to harmonize with the color, so that's a good thing, as I've had problems with doing that on my own.

I added my own touch to it. My natural color is a dark ash blonde. I chose "Biscotti", and only applied it to the top 50% of my hair. (In other words, I swept up the top layers and colored them, leaving my natural color below.) Then I streaked it (you can do it while your hair is still wet), following their directions, and it came out great! It looks very natural, and has several different shades, not only because I left some of my hair it's natural color, but because the streaks came out in different shades. So I highly recommend this product!

As I mentioned before, I am sold on Biolage hair products. At 52, I had a real problem with my hair falling out, until I used these products...It took 2-3 weeks of use to notice a difference but it has made a big difference for me.

Thumbs up

I REALLY like the new Dove shampoo/conditoner. I bought the 2-in-1 shampoo & conditioner. My hair tends to be on the dry side, I bought the Intense Moisture formula.
It's great, doesn't weigh your hair down

Stop & Shop sells it for $4.99 but they had it on sale for $2.99 plus I had $1 (off 1) coupons

Naomi

I love Arm & Hammer products!! The deodorant is the only deodorant that works for me and the detergent for washing clothes is excellent and the baking soda absorbs odors in my fridge and the kitty litter works great (or did when I had a cat).

When I think of more I'll add them. BTW, this new forum idea is a must!!

I use a product on my face, a mask, it's called Skin Zyme. I just love the stuff, I splurge on that. It's by a company called "Beauty Naturally" out of California and I swear by the stuff. It makes the skin feel like it's new, only way I can describe it, and it does work. I have never ever had anything that worked like this stuff, it's like a miracle formula. It's made from scratch in their laboratories from natural green papaya. My skin is smooth and beautiful after I use it. Only thing is, it only has a shelf life of 3 months, after that, it won't work. It's that natural. I first heard about some papaya stuff on one of those home shopping networks, however, I didn't buy from them 'cause this place was less money, around $27.45 for a 2 oz size. What price beauty huh? The Clean Zyme, you have to buy that too, is what you take off the Clean Zyme with. Worth every penny 'though.

Just so you know what I'm talking about, here's their web-site.

Great topic! I don't trust beauty products recommended by most magazines because I suspect they're sponsor tie-ins.

Several years ago I started using facial scrubs...the products with little scrathchy particles in them. A friend I hadn't seen in a while asked repeatedly what I had been using on my face, so I knew I'd found something good! The brand I like best is Freeman Deep Impact Lathering Facial Scrub with apricot and wild cherry. I use it two or three times every week and my face and neck stay incredibly soft.

Burt's Bees makes two hand products that I like. The Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme stays beside my TV chair where I can remember to use it daily. And Farmer's Friend Hand Salve works on even the driest skin.

Kiss My Face Pure Olive Oil Bar Soap is superb for skin that's super-sensitive. I had given some to a former co-worker and when it ran out, she drove around my subdivision not knowing where I live until she saw my car. She HAD to have more for her daughter, whose face breaks out when she uses anything else.

And for something totally unrelated... I've been doing the dreaded Spring Cleaning. I bought Pledge with Orange Oil in the trigger sprayer bottle simply because I like the smell of oranges. The product is supposed to clean and shine. Cleaning...no, not very good. However, the oil pentrates the wood and produces a beautiful shine that reminds me of Red Oil, without the oily residue.

A few things with my stamp of approval are:

1) Tub & Shower Cleaner From The Works
2) Toilet Cleaner From The Works
3) Swiffer Wet Jet
4) Swiffer Hand Duster (Just Got My Free Sample & I Love It)

hrdlife? This serum from Clinique you are referring to...is this a wear alone or under make up product, a night time product, etc. When do you use it?

whitequeen, I wanted to try the new L'oreal tonal system hair color but because my hair grows really fast, I went back to the regular L'oreal dyes. I'm glad it worked well for you 'though. I was going to have my hair done that way at the salon, and they told me it would be over $100.00, that's when I decided on doing it myself again.

I want to try the new tub and toilet cleaner with Teflon in it. I don't remember who makes it though.

Geesh, from all my posts it looks like I am obsessed with tubs and toilets LOL
