Don't mind me, I'm just doing a countdown...

LOL @ Jill!!! Hooray for you ( I think?)! I remember when my divorce was final. I was so giddy with excitement to be rid of the jerk! Ok, so I still have to deal with him when he decides to pretend to be an interested father (like once every year and a half), but since he calls so infrequently, it's almost as if he doesn't exist anymore!!!

Now for my venting.... Sorry to change the subject, but I'm bummed out and I wanted to express that to someone who wouldn't think I was trying to make them feel bad. My daughter's class is having a picnic today. If it doesn't rain, they're walking across town (small town ) to the park, if it rains, they'll just do it in the classroom. Well, I was planning to go. It's the last class activity for the year and I really, really, REALLY wanted it go and my dd wanted me to come too. Problem is now I can't. My husband's been driving the minivan and yesterday it seems it may have blown a head gasket or so he thinks (it's leaking water and it's coming from the rear of the engine, so no, it's not the radiator). So that doesn't work right now. He had to take the truck to work this morning and I can't get to the picnic!!! Waaaahhhhhh!!! I was pretty upset over it this morning, but dh thought I was trying to rub it in to make him feel bad. I really wasn't... I tried not to say anything too, but he insisted on asking the dumb question "What's wrong?".
<sigh> So, I'm stuck at home ALL day. Sure, I could walk there, I guess, but I should've started walking two hours ago so I'd be there by 11am. Something tells me I couldn't walk that far anyway. I was completely exhausted from just walking down the road and back (that took almost two hours!).

AWWW Jen, I am sorry. Can you call one of the other moms and get a ride? How calling the teacher and see if she has any ideas? I am sure someone wouldn't mind coming out and getting you.

sorry about your van, that really bites.

If you do end up staying at home, well (((((((((((big hug))))))))))))) I know this is so disappointing,

Thanks Corrina. I only knew of three people who might have come way out here to get me. Two of them were at work. The other lives 40 minutes away and I just didn't feel right asking her to come all this way.

Dh is going to try to get our old Camero working this weekend so I can have the Suburban back. That'll be wonderful. He works so far away, so it's not like I can drop him off and I've got so much to do the next couple of weeks and if he can't get one of our three other vehicles working (van, pickup truck, or camero), I may have to cancel a few appointments.

I feel for you. I've been so lucky to be able to go on many field trips and help out in my kids' class. You must be a dedicated mom to care so much. Hope your holiday weekend is a good one

Well, I'm alive. I did it. I survived my daughter's birthday party!! LOL!!! Yesterday was her first BIG party. She invited her entire class, her girl scout troop and her best friend. I believe, including my two kids, there were about 34 on the invite list. ooo.. brave wasn't I??? It was both kind of disappointing and relieving at the same time that only 16 kids came.
We had an indoor pool party at one of the local hotels (I never realized they had birthday parties there until a little girl in my ds's class has one there!). Woo buddy did it get LOUD!!!
We were so glad when it was over with. I came home and slept for 2 hours on the couch!!! I'm glad to report, the kids all had a lot of fun and I'd be willing to do that again... just not anytime soon!!!

You are so brave! Did you ask all the parents to stay? I would be a nervous wreck with all those kids in water.

Tell your daughter Happy Birthday from me! How old is she?

Nope, didn't ask any of the parents to stay. I wasn't so nervous about them all being in the water because for #1 - The pool is only 3 & 4 feet deep. Nearly all the kids could touch the bottom. And #2 - my dh was there supervising the kids at all times. He was a former lifeguard. He hasn't had any training in a very long time, but the basics are still there in his memory. That's why he was assigned "Pool Duty"!

Michelle is now 8 years old. Her birthday was actually on the 9th, but we were a little behind in planning her party. We could have had it on the 11th, but that was Mother's Day, last weekend was all booked, so we had to wait until this weekend. I wondered how many kids were going to show up, being Memorial Day weekend. Michelle's best friend, Brandy, couldn't come because her parents' took advantage of the 3 day weekend and went out of town. Brandy's mom said she was so bummed! They threw a little mini birthday party for her last weekend, to make Brandy feel better about not being able to go. Brandy even made her a birthday cake!! Isn't she the sweetest??

We've got lots of leftover cake now too.. MORE FOR ME!!! LOL!!! (like I need it!) You know how some cakes from the grocery store bakeries are pretty nasty tasting? Well, I went WAY out of my way to get this cake from a grocery store that I knew made yummy cakes. OOOO it's so good!! I'm having a lot of trouble staying away from it!!!
