Postcard Project - Everyone Please Read

One of the first grade teachers (Mrs. Baker) at our local elementary school is starting her annual postcard project. In their social studies curriculum, the children study families from around the world. In an effort to make this project more interesting for the students, Mrs. Baker is asking families to have their extended families, friends, military friends, or business associates send postcards to her classroom from the states or countries in which they live or are visiting.

Last year Mrs. Baker's first grade class had over 300 postcards from all 50 states and 15 different countries. Many here may remember me posting a request similar to this one last year asking for your help with this project. Thank you to all that sent postcards last year!

If you would like to help with this class project, please send a postcard from your hometown or place you may be visiting to the following address:

Thanks for the support! Mrs. Baker's class has started receiving postcards this week - she reads them to the class, then the kids mark the states on a big map displayed on the wall outside the classroom. The postcards are hung next to the map too. It's a great way to learn culture and history from the cities/states/countries shown on the postcards, as well as a neat geography lesson.

Alaska
Utah
Wyoming
South Dakota
Nebraska
Iowa
Oklahoma
Alabama
South Carolina
Delaware
Connecticut
Rhode Island

If anyone is from one of the above states and would like to send a postcard, your help would be much appreciated!!

Naomi, thank you so much for helping with this project! I truly do appreciate it.

Mrs. Baker hasn't placed a deadline on this project, but I'm guestimating it will continue at least until the end of April, perhaps even longer.

If anyone has friends/family/co-workers/acquaintances in South America, Antarctica, or Africa, would you please try to enlist their help with this project? We haven't received any postcards from these three continents yet, so I'm on a mission to try to get some!!

Connecticut, Deleware, Nebraska, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming

If anyone lives in these states or has family/friends there, please try to send a postcard. The kids would love to receive postcards from all 50 states!

Thanks for the postcard NaomiMarie! It could be that the teacher hasn't read it yet to the children - she had quite a stack to go through after spring break and was reading a few each day. It could be that the one you sent from Connecticut is still in the "yet to be read pile" - as the postcards are read, the states on the large map in the hallway outside the classroom are colored in.
