Unhappy I'm feeling kinda down....

Maybe it's cuz i just got back from my trip and i miss being with my friends..maybe i'm still jetlagged...i dunno what it is....i don't mean to dump on everyone i just have this "yucky" feeling, does that make sense at all? I think this war stuff is kinda hitting me harder than i thought...i mean i don't want to start another "fight" about it or anything but i think i'm starting to get scared or nervous or something about it....all this talk and everyone's emotions so high up and all...i know i'm one of the biggest supporters of the war here but i can't help but admit that i am scared about it...i mean i feel it must be done, i really do, but it doesn't mean i don't FEEL bad about the whole thing...it's scary...and i feel so bad cuz it was on my mind a lot while i was in texas and i just have this sense of dread about it...about where our country is headed and how everyone seems to be on edge lately...maybe we all need a minute to sit by some water, beach, pool, jacuzzi, whatevah LOL and just reflect on things...i know, i'm getting spacey on yall LOL, but honestly...going on that trip was good for me too cuz i REALLY missed my family and it made me realize just what i have here in virginia and at home and how lucky i am to be able to go on trips like that and also have the most wonderful family that i can come home to and talk to about my most wonderful friends that i go see on my trips lol...but i dunno i just can't seem to shake this feeling....just a general sense of yuck....i hope i'm not the only one feeling this way and i hope yall don't mind me bending your ear a bit....i guess i just wanted to hear that everyone here is ok, and that things will be ok....maybe it's just the change in weather and i'm ready for spring, who knows? anyway...thanks for listening...

I understand, steph. It's begun and it's totally scary. My 13 year old son is asking me tons of questions right now. Jeez, this is hard.

Steph darling... you're not alone. I'm sitting here burning cd's for my brother and sis-in-law, and actually turned off the tv because I have a bad tummy ache listening and watching. I can't concentrate.

The feeling of unease and dread is a baaad-a** feeling. I call it being totally out of sorts. If I had any extra sorts to send to you I would, but I'm getting kinda' low myself on sort supplies. Love you hunny... just keep posting and talking about it. Seems as though the more we try to not think the more it takes on a life of it's own and the best thing is to try and disarm the feeling a bit.

It's overwhelming... no doubt about it.

Wow Steph, you totally put my feelings into words. I feel that Bush is doing the right thing but I am scared too. Our country has had so much tragedy and sorrow the past few years, this is just adding to it. What a world our children are growing up in. Will there ever be peace? Will other countries ever grow to like and respect us?

(((((STEPH)))))) Know how you feel. But think about when WW1, WW2 and all the others were going on...our families went thru the same..they made it thru strong and proud...and we will now. I know my son couldn't understand what is happening...I told him they were having thunderstorms...he is 7. That's good enough for him....trying to protect him for a bit longer.

My children are old enough to understand all too well. DD is 16 and DS is 13.

I guess my biggest fear is that of the unknown.

On the bright side - if we get bombed tomorrow I won't have to pay my credit card bills. (Just trying to lighten the mood a little)

Hugs to you Steph.

Does anyone else find the immediacy of getting information on the Internet and news channels contributes to these uneasy feelings? Times like these I wish the media would NOT report every little detail as they develop. I know in the world wars that families were very frustrated at not getting current news, but this is the absolute extreme. I found myself avoiding the TV and computer all day.

Of course, it depends on the topic... last week I wanted every detail about Elizabeth Smart's return. Happy news is much easier to take!

My kids are freaked out... what am i supposed to do? not tell them anything? not let them hear the news?

I want them to know what is going on. When I was their age the Vietnam war was going on and my parents didn't tell me anything.

Those of you that have kids... what are you telling them or letting them hear about?

How old are your children luvmetender?

I answer my children's questions as honestly as possible and I also let then watch the tv.

They watch it in school as well. It is very important that they are aware.

Personally, I think it will ease their nervousness to be able to know what is going on rather than to imagine all kind of things in their heads about it.

they are 11 and 13, but they actually thought that Iraq is a desert... they were shocked to know that actual people live there.

Hmmm, I would have thought with all the talks that their school teachers would have at least spoken to them a little about Iraq.

Maybe at dinner you could just ask them if there is anything they want to talk about or just let them know that you are available for ANY questions they have.

Let them know that no question is silly.

I personally believe in living each day to it's fullest. I think my children feel safe and whatever is meant to be will be.
