Post Do you color your hair?

Do you color your hair? And if so....do you go to a salon to have it done or do it at home?

I use to would NEVER have put the stuff on my hair. Then when I was going through a divorce my hairdresser talked me into doing something different. He said I needed a new look so I could make a fresh start so I agreed. He cut my hair short and lightened it ALOT. It took awhile to get use to but I ended up really liking it. (He was such a sweetie he even did it for half price!! ) After the initial coloring I went back every 8 weeks for touch-ups since my hair grows really fast. But in the last year since he has moved I do my hair at home. A few times I had thought about just letting it go back to its natural color (which is blonde anyway but just a darker blonde than I color it) but hubby seems to like it lighter so I keep putting the bottle stuff on it. Oh, yeah........hubby has even done it for me when I wanted to be 'lazy'. He pretends he is the stylist and acts really goofy! lol

I get my hair highlighted maybe every 4 months or so using the foil technique. It takes a little longer but the results are much better than the cap technique.

I got my hair highlighted for the first time last spring. I just did it again a few weeks ago. I am a serious chicken, so no one can tell-lol. My friends make fun of me and tell me to go bigger, but I can tell, and I like it, so its enough for me.

BTW my SIL does it, with the cap. BABYCAKES does that hurt! I feel like she is gouging my scalp half the time trying to get the hook in. She always apologizes, but she is laughing like crazy too!

Never had, but probably should! I have darker blonde hair, and boy, is the gray coming in! Fortunately, it blends fairly well.

I'm always worried color will fry my hair like a perm..,it's fine and gets frizzy easily.

I used to color it reddish but once I got pregnant in 1999 I was advised by my Dr to not put those chemicals on my head as they seep into the skin and could affect the baby so I stopped dying it ever since then.

I'm naturally a blonde, but dye it a lighter shade. Sometimes I let the salon do it, but I usually like what I do better. I want to try the new product L'oreal has out. You put a color on, then you put the highlight color on top, just where you want it. The salon said it would cost over $100.00 to do it 'cause it was a double process job. Has anyone tried this new stuff yet?

My hair is naturally a light ash blonde. I have for the last several months colored it a real pretty red color and then pulled blonde highlights in it. I get it done at the salon because I have SOOOO much hair and I am afraid of frying it. I'd hate to ruin my hair, and if I did, DH would KILL me!!! ( I tease him that he only married me for my pretty blonde hair)

He's not too happy about the red as it is

Well, I bashfully admit, I colored mine purple when I was 18. My mother nearly fainted! LOL!

I started highlighting mine shortly before I got married, but I quickly tired of spending $75 every two months.

I honestly love my natural hair color the way it is though. It's light brown with natural streaks of blonde and red, oh and the occassional gray. I use to leave the gray alone because I got sick of people telling me I looked like I wasn't even old enough to drive (it's insulting after a while) and I thought maybe it they saw the gray they wouldn't make such assumptions. Then the vanity took over and I started pulling the gray strands out. If I could find a way to color my hair and have it look exactly like my natural coloring, then I'd probably do it in a heartbeat, but until then, no way.

Do it myself

The females in my family go grey early so I've been coloring my hair on and off for quite awhile. probably since I've been about 23 (and I'm only a month away from turning 35). I do the stuff that washes out after a month or so. and I play around with the shades - not too different but just as the mood suits me. I also do my older sisters hair now too - been doing that for the last 5 years or so - she got tired of all the grey - she's got 6 years on me so I know what to look forward too - sigh. Haven't had the nerve yet to do the permanent stuff yet - but I'm seriously thinking about it since it's about time to do it again - just found a good "streak" of grey in mine - not just a couple of hairs throughout - but an entire GROUP!!!!! all together - aahhhhhh. I'm also considering the new loreal multi tonal system stuff cause - well - it just looks neat.
