Well we have the Astrodome ,eighth wonder of the world, Johnson Space Center, Compac Computer,. Let us not forget we where the home of Enron. And I know there is so much more in Houston I can't think of. The town I live in now is known as the Propane capital of the world. I live 15 minutes from Deerpark , which is the Birthplace of Texas and also live real close to the San Jacinto battleground where Santa Anna was stopped.

Ruidoso is famous for quarter horse racing in the summer, cool mountain weather. In the winter we have skiing. We are a tourist town.

First, I wanted to say how great Ruidoso is. I loved it there when I visited.

Spokane, WA is known as the hometown to Bing Crosby. Also known for Gonzaga University, the movie, "Benny & Joon" with Jonny Depp was shot here. Another movie, I forget the name of it, but it had Madonna and Matthew Modine in it was also shot here. That's about it.

Rochester, NY famous for?

Headquarters of: Eastman Kodak Co, Xerox, Bausch & Lomb

Famous Residents: Susan B Anthony, Frederick Douglass, George Eastman

Events: Lilac Festival. What is now known as the Lilac Festival started informally in 1898, when 3,000 people gathered one Sunday in May to see the lilacs. Ten years later, the number had grown to 25,000; today, the 1,200-plus flowering lilac bushes put on their display for well over a half-million people from around the world during the annual 10-day festival. Rochester's famous Lilac Festival is a lavish array of flowers, attractions, and special events that signal the arrival of spring. The 1,200-plus lilac bushes in Highland Park create a floral rainbow ranging from the deepest of purples to the purest of whites.

Famous Musicians: Gap & Chuck Mangione, their parents live right down my street!

Famous Actors/TV: Robert Forster (Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Max Cherry in Quentin Tarantino's "Jackie Brown"), Rudy Boesch (Survivor I), Brennan Swain (winner Amazing Race I), Lisa Donahue (winner Big Brother III).

Anybody heard of Cavender's Greek Seasoning? It's made here in my hometown. If you've never tried it--it's really, really good on everything. Also, American Freightways truck line--now sold to Fedx--was started here.

The town where I grew up, Rensselaer, Indiana, is where the Chicago Bears had spring training camp at St. Josephs College during the sixties and early seventies... (have some cool stories there lol. It was always so exciting when the Bears were in town... three of them were killed on local country road trying to get back to the dorms from a night of partying... missed a nasty curve we used to call "Bear Curve" sort of our version of "dead man's curve") and the origional "Brian's Song" was filmed there.
And the old Trail Tree Inn Truckstop where they served up the best biscuits and gravy of all Jasper county LOL!!!

Eugene, Oregon, my home since 1990, is home of the University of Oregon.... GO DUCKS!!!

(Lots of rain here too...)

The movie, "Animal House" was filmed here as well as in a small town south of here, the Butte to Butte marathon, bicycling, Steve Prefontain was from a small town over on the coast but ran for the U of O... that's all hubby and I can think of for now. LOL!!!

Wink

A guy was sitting in an airplane when another guy took the
seat beside him. The new guy was a wreck, pale, hands
shaking, biting his nails and moaning in fear.

"Hey, pal, what's the matter?" said the first guy.

"I've been transferred to Los Angeles, California," he
answered nervously. "They've got race riots, drugs, the
highest crime rate in the country..."

"Hold on," said the first. "I've been in L.A all my life,
and it's not as bad as the media says. Find a nice home,
go to work, mind your own business, enroll your kids in a
good school and it's as safe as anywhere in the world."

The second guy stopped shaking for a moment and said, "Oh,
thank God. I was worried to death! But if you live there
and say it's ok, I'll take your word for it. By the way,
what do you do for a living?"

"Me?" said the first, "I'm a tail gunner on a bread
truck."

I think that says it all!
