Some real controversary for AndersonGal- Senate approves ban-partialbirth abortions

Here is some controversary (how the heck do you spell that?) for AndersonGal. Well, this topic isn't specifically for her though. Now for my little piece of this discussion. I am so glad they are banning this! Click the link for the whole article if you want to read it. I only copied the first paragraphs.

Senate approves ‘partial-birth’ ban

DENOUNCED AS ‘UNCONSTITUTIONAL’
Abortion rights supporters have pledged a court challenge. “This bill is unconstitutional,” argued Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., citing the lack of an exemption in cases where the health of the mother is in jeopardy. The bill does exempt a partial-birth abortion that is necessary to save the life of a mother.
The procedure involves partial delivery of a fetus until the head or part of the lower body is outside the mother’s body.
At that point, the doctor punctures the skull of the fetus with a scissors, then inserts a suction tube and vacuums out the developing brain, killing the fetus.

That's just gross.............How on earth can any medical care provider perform that procedure???

I am not pro or anti abortion, but I just can't even stomach thinking about that procedure

I will say now that I am all for pro-choice, BUT...even I wrote and called my state officials about this. This procedure is used (also) to allow "more time"...sorry, not getting it for me...I don't see how waiting a longer number of months to decided you don't want to be a "Mom" can be jusified under any circumstances to warrant this kind of procedure. It's disgusting. I personally don't feel this is even in the same category as pro-choice, pro-life, etc...

Baffled

This procedure is barbaric and makes me sick to my stomach.

Other than that comment, I better just shut my trap and move on.

Shainie..if you have anything to say as a direct response to what I may have posted, please do so....really...I would be greatly interested in what you're holding back This is going to be an argument 'til the end of time. I will always stand by my "choice", but THAT does not mean my choice is my personal decision...ummm...does that make sense? LOL! Well, if you want to direct something to ME, feel free to do so...if I would happen to be offended (which I doubt), I promise not to "go there" Ok, that's all...I just don't wantcha to feel like you're better off keeping quiet...bugs the heck out of me to not say something when I SOOOOOOOOO want to....LOL!

BTW, just one more "opinion"...even people who are pro-choice and argue "when is 'it' really a baby" don't have to legs to stand on when it comes to this procedure.

Why would I want controversy (however the heck you spell it)?

I think just .17 of 1% of abortions performed are partial-birth abortions. Very, very, very few.

Of course everyone is against partial birth abortions.....who would be for them?? A 24 week old fetus could probably survive if it was born. What pro-choicers are afraid of is that the Republicans in office (who now control the presidency, house and senate) will whitle away ALL abortion rights piece by piece. The anti-choicers should be very happy about this.

(My position on abortion has changed since I had a baby.)

in the case of health of the mother is concerned....

simply deliver prematurely and issue a no extreme measures order to the hospital... the infant will "expire" without having its brains sucked out....

this just makes me sick.... I can never justify abortion, so I just keep my trap shut

Hmmm. I almost hate to open my mouth on this one because it has caused some 'disagreements' among some friends of mine but here it goes......and before I say this PLEASE don't anyone take this personally......this is just my opinion. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and you know.....some people may know something I don't.

here it goes........ I think that is just totally wrong for one. Have you ever seen a partial birth abortion? Well, I have. When I was in school we saw a video of one and it made me sick at my stomach LITERALLY!!!! Personally I do not understand how any woman can do that to a baby she is carrying. By the time that they do these 'partial birth abortions' the mother has already experienced the baby moving around. This is something that is so special but yet so many take it so lightly. A baby is a gift from God. So many couples cannot have babies yet there are people who get pregnant and don't want them and abort them. I think that is just wrong. If you can't afford the baby then put it up for adoption. There are people out there who would LOVE to have one and can't.

I know there are other circumstances that may make a woman not want the baby....rape, etc......and I understand but I still can't understand why you would end that life when others out there would take that child and love it.

JMO......please don't bite my head off!!!

I never post in threads that are controversial however I am going to this time. In my opinion it is a Child not a Choice from the first moment no matter what the circumstances. I saw a cartoon the other day were a man was on his knees asking why God had not sent us people to cure cancer or aids why he had not sent someone to fix world hunger and several other things. His answer was I did you aborted them. By the way controversy is how it is spelled so AndersonGal wins the spelling bee.

I'm just like you,Debbie...I never post in controversial threads(NOW I can't say THAT!) and I believe strongly that it's a child, not a choice.I won't rant and rave here because it would be too upsetting and I have better things to do with my time.I have never witnessed a partial-birth abortion, thank God,because I don't think I could handle it!Just a little story for you guys...my brother and his wife just had to abort their much wanted child(not "fetus") because she found out her kidneys are failing and her unborn child was destroying it at a very fast rate. The baby couldn't be carried to term without alot of harm to mother and baby. They agonized over the decision but they knew what they had to do.Now,in this particular case,I feel the abortion was justified. What really disgusts me is women who use abortion as a means of birth control. OK...that's my 2 cents worth and I'll quit typing now...WHEW!!!

I am pro choice because until you are in the mothers shoes you don't know the situation. I am personally against it for myself but in the right situation I would like to have a choice. I am against the partial birth abortions because you can abort so much earlier without pain to the baby. I also think that you either want the baby or you don't. If you don't want the baby you have 2 options, abortion or adoption. While it is a difficult decision you should know what you want. I should not take many weeks to make a decision like that.

Thanks for your support, mouse!(((hugs))) It really bothered me that they had to make a choice like that but I completely understood their decision. They wanted that baby so badly and are really torn up about it. I'm glad I've never been in that awful position either...what a tough choice!
