| How many products that you buy are made in the United States?
Have you ever looked in your closets at the clothing you've purchased to see where it was made? Or the car or truck or SUV you purchased? I'm guilty of not looking. I think if we live in America, we should buy American goods, to keep jobs in our country, but I look for the best price, and then don't notice where the item is made if I've gotten a good deal. Is anyone else guilty of this? I was in my marketing class last night and we were discussing foreign made goods. This guy said his jacket was made in Sri Lanka. That made me look at the label in mine out of curiosity, and mine was made in China. I bought it at a true American store several years ago, Sears. I realize goods are purchased from all sorts of countries, but has anyone ever stopped to think of where our jobs are going? Jobs move to countries where labor is cheaper, where they can produce just as much at lower costs, bigger profits for these companies, meanwhile, job losses for Americans. I have nothing against people in other countries making a living, but when it impacts Americans losing jobs, losing their homes because they can't meet the mortgage payments etc. etc. then it's just not right.
What is so surprising, is that goods made in places like Honduras for example, where factory workers only make 15 cents to 25 cents per hour, are sold at such high prices in the U.S.
