When the 2 of them first started they had one Subway shop, and it didn't do well in the cooler months, so even 'thought it wasn't doing well, they decided to open another shop, new location, and that one did better. They almost gave up but kept going. It's much easier to give up on things in life, so I give these guys credit. One of the owners was just 17 years old when he started, he was going to college at the time and this was in addition to managing the shop.

There is a really good book on Subway which I found at the library, so if you are interested, it is called Start Small "Finish Big" by Fred DeLuca with John P. Hayes. 15 key lessons to start and run your own successful business. The book also tells success stories about other people who have made it big. It's interesting and fun reading.

I had to report our local Subway for selling meat that was 3 weeks past the last sell date! I guess it depends on whether or not you have a good franchise.
