| hi all, i see so many yummy recipes for ice cream or sorbet that require you to "freeze in an ice cream maker according to manufacturers directions" after mixing all the ingredients together... i do not have an ice cream maker nor know how one works.. is an ice cream maker neccessary or can i just freeze the ice cream or sorbet in an old coffee tin/container with the lid on????? thanks, jenny ![]() __________________ [Only registered and activated users can see links. | I remember making ice cream in a loaf pan, covering it with a piece of foil... I have the recipe somewhere. I have done that lots of times. ![]() __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. | I don't see why you couldn't. The only reason I use an ice cream maker is because I like the soft serve ice cream. __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. | You can even use ziplock bags to make ice cream in.A freind of mine used to that with kids alot that way everyone worked on their own flavor. The ice cream ingredients went in a smaller bag and salt and ice cubes in a larger one that the smaller one went inside(you can use a tin can with a water tight lid instead of the larger bag, which little kids can roll).then it is a matter of moving the bag around or rolling the can to get smooth ice cream. __________________ [Only registered and activated users can see links.
