| For those of you with websites, how did you register your domain name? Do you actually "buy" the name, and if so, who exactly are you buying it from?? Forgive my ignorance, but I've always wondered who "owned" these names like when the internet first started? I'd like to register a domain name (before it gets taken) but have no idea how to go about it. __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. | Dh has several domain names. He gets his at [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or

| Domain names have gotten cheaper over the past few years because now they can be registered by more than one agency. I recommend a Yahoo! search to find the cheapest rates. The $9/yr that cata5 mentioned is probably as low as they get--that's a great price! I think I pay $20/yr. My web site is hosted by [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] I found it by Yahoo! searching for a low rate and very basic plan. Every six months I pay about $68 for 100MB of space and 25 e-mail addresses. I'm OK with cedant. I don't love them, I don't hate them. About 98% of the time I don't even think about the service, but when it goes down and I can't retrieve e-mail... GRRRRRRRR... Fortunately it hasn't happened too often. There are SO many hosting services, and it's hard to know what you're going to end up with. If at all possible you should go with one that's been recommended. They all look good on paper, but you have to try them out to really know how well they perform. __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links.
