Unhappy Why do people hates dogs!!!

I am going crazy! I have been looking for a house, condo or Duplex to rent for months and NO ONE in NH will rent to anyone with a dog. To make it worse I have four!(To make it even worse than that they are pitbulls)... I was trying to get family to take two of them since two seems way better then four in others eyes but i can not even find a place with one allowed and if they continplate a dog they ask me what kind i have. Then they say yeah right. My dogs are so fun loving it kills me that people feel so badly toward them.
Does anyone have any ideas? My boyfriend keeps telling me that we have to get rid of them all but I can not bear to do that.
Somebody PLEASE help me......

I'm having the same problem. I want to find a cheaper place to live, but this complex is one of the few that will accept big dogs. I have 2 danes, and they aren't as destructive as most KIDS I know.

My pet deposit was throught he roof. But I don't remember ever paying a kid deposit when the kids were small.

Oh yeah..I'm in Texas, so I can't help you much. Just know Iunderstand your delimma

Really upsets me when people always refer to pitbulls as these ferocious animals. We have a pitbull mix and she is the sweetest thing (she's asleep in our king size bed with hubby as I sit here typing).
On a recent trip to Petco I happen to notice a magazine by the checkout, think the title was Bully Breeds. Sure enough, there was a pitbull right on the front cover.
They do NOT deserve the bed rep that they get. We live in a condo complex (wanna move to CT?) where there are quite a few dogs. Funny thing is that the most popular breed here is the pitbull.

We have two young children and we often have other children over, I have NO FEAR WHATSOEVER about Mikki (it's a girl) doing something to them. She is a n absolte LOVE!

People are just ignorant!! Because some 'jerks' raise/train THEIR their dogs to fight doesn't mean ALL pitbulls are bad! Sadly, there will always be this stigma attached to pitbulls.

I really wish I had an answer for you......I wish you much luck! Please keep us posted!!!
Naomi

I agree that pitbulls have a bad rap. But that breed also has caused considerable injury also, due to bad training. No one knows how you trained your dogs, and unfortunetly that breed of dog causes extreme damage when it bites. Its not the same as another dog that could bite or attack. I am sorry though, that you reap the mistrust of bad trainers. My SIL has a pit bull, and she is WONDERFUL, restored my love for dogs. But with pit bulls I would really have to know the owners before I could trust the dog.

I am sorry though that you are having such a hard time trying to find a home with your babies.

It is really hard to find places that will except dogs.
Glad I don't have to go through that.
I could never get rid of my baby.
I understand about bad reps and dogs. I had a chow chow and everyone said oh they are such a mean dog. My tut was a teddy bear. My nieces one Christmas decorated him all up. I mean with lights and bows. He would let them do anything to them. Oh I miss him. He is long gone to doggy resting place.

I know what you mean. When we moved up here to Washington I began to think we would NEVER find a place.

We finally did and the funny thing is, our landlady had more of a problem with the girls than Hershey!!!!! She had lots of bad experiences with children tearing up the place!

I wish you lots of luck..you will find a place!

a lot of places here will not rent to you if you have pets OR children...both can cause a lot of damage to places and to be honest I would not rent to someone that had pets either...why chance renting to someone whos pets might have accidents on your carpeting or shew the woodwork etc when its just as easy to rent to people who do not have pets...I happen to have both a kid and a pet but we have our own house so any damage they do I have to fix myself.

But as an EX-landlord I can tell you .... it's not the dogs they hate it's how *some* owners lack control over the damage the pet does or refuses to take responsiblility for them. I'm sure your not that way and you feel upset by others who have made this situation rough on you. I do hope you find something and give the doggies a scratch behind the ears for me.

Baffled

Please do not give your dogs up. That is totally wrong! I work (normally, but taking a break now) for animal hospitals for a living and people give animals up for the dumbest reasons. Like the lady who gave up her dog because it did not match her new carpet that was being installed. I know it is hard but I know you can find something. Look on the internet I know there are sites that find apartments for you. There are business that find places to live free of charge for you (the owner pays them to find tenants). I hope you thought about this situation when you got your dogs. Check with some of the rescue groups and see if they have any information. Please take care of your dogs.

Dogs are my most favorite thing in the world. Sometimes I love them more than people. I love my dog so much; he's my third
"child". Whatever you do, don't give the dogs away. I visit the Humane Society and cry when I see the beautiful dogs people have given away. Keep trying to find a place that allows dogs.

I really hope it all works out for you and you find a place for you and you wonderful dog

I am in an opposite situation I have a home and no one telling me I cant have a dog but I cant find one

I lost my last chiahuaha (sp?) in april 2002.... and recently I decided I am really wanting another dog...

I dont want to go to a breeder becaus there are so many unwanted pets already so I want to save one

I have been looking for a small dog because I dont want one that will have to be outside and my house is only comfortable enough to have a small dog
Otherwise I would have a Big huge Lab

I have been searching and waiting and searching just knowing the right dog will come along

What ever you do try not to give up your baby you will miss them terribly .....
Wish you luck and sorry for rambling
