Thanks for your answer - I'm going to make a new thread for people to vote - let's see what democracy has to say...

I do not think you can speak for Mayor and tell me that I should just not bring up religious issues at all anymore. I don't think that is what he would say.
Ok...we'll just see what he says then, because I was here when truthsoup started and I know why it came to be. I am not saying he would want religious topics banned, he would just prefer them to be discussed elsewhere because it doesn't seem to work here. That's why he started Truthsoup in the first place. Maybe I'm wrong and he has a different opinion about that now. But we'll see what his reply is.
Funny how after he started truthsoup, no one wanted to discuss religion as much after that. Everyone thought it was ok here because it got so controversial but when a real place of discussion was established, it didn't seem as big a topic afterall and no one bothered to go to truthsoup.
I understand the need to be able to discuss anything and everything in a public forum but sometimes it just doesn't work. And this just happens to be one of those forums.

Save your poll for a rainy day because its probably not going to matter what democracy says, its what the Mayor says. It's his board.

Vote! Should religious topics be allowed here?

Let's see what democracy has to say...

1) Yes. We should allow them and they should not be closed unless they get "ugly".

2) No. We should not allow discussion of religion of any type, because it will probably cause problems like it has in the past.

Except that DoD is not now, and has never been, a democracy. Mayor explained this very well during the last "religious fervor" episode (at least the last one that I bothered to look at).

If you didn't read, or don't remember, his analogy about people being invited into your house and then demanding that you redecorate to suit them, I do hope he (or someone else) saved it or can find it and repost here.

anything should be allowed to be discussed, but all rules should also be enforced in all threads. Even threads that have no religion or politics, people cop attitudes sometimes.

I think it will be interesting, and I'm sure Mayor takes into consideration the members here when he makes decisions.

I know it's not our site. Doesn't mean that we can't see where people stand... and I'm sure Mayor makes decisions based on members thoughts.

i think they should be allowed but as pandybat (i think) said I have not seen the worst. I also agree this is Mayor's site and it should be up to him.

I gave you my vote and opinion and I hope this all gets worked out.

What makes you so sure of that? My impression is that he knows what he wants DoD to be, and keeps it that way. My hat would be off to the Mayor if it hadn't just been blown off by blueaguave's non sequiter.

I don't think so, mainly 'cause there are people who would be offended by it. There are so many different religions with different belief systems. I find other people's religions interesting and am very open minded to them, however I feel it would be too contoversial for DOD.
