I'm asking honest questions here. Are religious issues of any kind going to be banned here as LISA1013 and the one mod think should be the case? (and I'm sure some others think). If that's the way it is going to be then quite honestly I am just not going to come back to the chit chat forum... NOT OUT OF SPITE, just because I think that it would get very boring around here. If there isn't an exchange of differing ideas in an adult way, then I don't really feel much interest. That's fine if others do, but I don't. I happen to enjoy discussion about issues that matter, discussion in which people can learn from each other. I would hope that that could happen here, but if it can't then so be it. I'm basically asking these questions because I don't want to go, but if I'm not allowed to disagree with anyone or talk about religion in any way shape or form, then this forum is just not cut out for me.

I understand what has happened in the past and peoples fear that the it could once again become ugly.........but todate everyone has been very understanding of other's views and I think that many of us are happy to have the opportunity to understand how others think. By learning to accept other's beliefs and understand that not everyone has to think & believe alike.............makes for a much better and tolerant community.

It seems like we have two groups of people...

1) Religious / contraverial issues can be discussed in adult manner, and unless it gets ugly, the thread should not be closed.

2) Religious / contraversial issues cannot be discussed here because it is possible it will end up getting ugly, like it has in the past

There needs to be an understanding which way it will be in the chit chat forum. I think this is where Mayor needs to step in and make known what he wants.

Teraberry...why do you keep bringing up Lisa's name? It's not proving a point, she just voiced her opinion is all. She is not a mod here, she had nothing to do with the Mod deciding to close the thread. She was however here when all of the crap in the past happened...hence her opinion is something I certainly understand.

Wanted to add...I would rather see the thread closed well before someone has their views stomped into the ground because they differ from someone else's...than after the damage is done. Many of us have been here a long time...it's not difficult to almost predict the precise moment when the thread is going to go bad.

Mayor and the mods are not online 24/7 and probably have not read, and do not read, each and every post in each forum in its entirety.

I wouldn't leave the site altogether, but the chit chat forum would no longer hold much interest to me. I know there are other sites out there. I like the diversity here and I come here anyway for other forums, and I know the people. So now it's just a matter of what is allowed here.

You had no problems discussing other matters in the past until you had been called on for trying to push religion into a post that had nothing to do with religion in the first place. Ever since then, you have been full tilt on getting some sort of religious discussions going. We are trying to tell you that it does not work here. We've seen what they turn into in the past. If nothing else, these threads right here should show you prime example.

I don't just post about religious things... and I use lots of the other forums here... freebies, deals, prayer requests, trade, reality tv, etc. I have been posting more here this year - not just the religious stuff but also more general topics. You said, "We are trying to tell you that it does not work here." Who's "we"? I know you do not speak for everyone here, because there are many who have posted in this thread who do not want religious topics banned from this forum. I do not think you can speak for Mayor and tell me that I should just not bring up religious issues at all anymore. I don't think that is what he would say.

If there are other threads that have been closed that needed to be then that's fine... let's try to use more common sense and self control, instead of throwing the baby out with the bath water.

WHAT??? "WE" would be the several who have tried to ask you nicely (and sometimes not nicely) to give it a rest. It is more than ONE person, and it is NOT just Sandy. Sandy never said she wanted the topics BANNED. She just wanted a little constraint.

You have taken TWO posts..One from Lisa and one from Luv...and somehow twisted it into everyone is picking on you and wants religious posts done away with completely. Her point is clearly that you have begun this campaign, starting threads with controversial connotations SPECIFICALLY to get things stirred up, only since the "depression" thread.
