Speaking of threads...and peoples comments..

From posts I've read of FUNdamental's,
I do not agree with all his views (or) how he may
state "facts"/theorys" .. as he see's them...
But I do enjoy learning about other's opinions.
Mostly I find it hysterically funny how He (FUN)
"Hook-line-and-sinkers" people-in with his
controversial views.
(have you seen that post?.. it's still going on.
some people feel the need to ( sadly) drag it on,
from "different angles" to the org. post. when honestly,
IMO the post should have been closed !

.....It' is shameful, how people think
they are being "intellingent "with various, &
deliberate insults & comments ( below)
directed towards FUNdamental.

It makes one wonder.. How pompus some people are...
and ... these insult are for???....satisfying?
......to fill what need?

certainly not words for a interesting debate...

Simply uncalled for...

*Get a life,
*This is beyond pathetic.
*Some people will just NEVER get it.
*Are you taking hallucinogenics?
*maybe we should just call you "da mental"?
*FUN'DUH?mental
*you are not too bright
*My word! This guy is MUCH denser than I thought.---apologize offered after this one)
*do you have a reading comprehension problem?
*Will you admit to being an internet troll
*I'm not sure what planet you're from.
*you annoy people
*are nit-picky
*your people skills SUCK
*Your "people skills" really DO suck! Badly. Well said, ****
(withheld name)!

MHO final analysis:
Riduculous how pompus & arrogant and UNCALLED for
these comments are.,

and totally amazing how this said post has been able
to live on.

No one is touching my question of if you want religious issues banned from the site or not.

What 'angels' said is just evidence of my point... There is definately a double standard. People can slam FUNdamental as much as they want. However, with religious topics you basically are made to feel like you are walking on eggshells.

I must have been absent the day this was decided - to not discuss religion.

I'm still waiting for Mayor to pop in and clarify things.

Are we talking no religious conversation, or no "controversial" religious conversation?

Because as far as I know, I see nothing in the DOD terms of use about discussing religion.

Where were you two in the past when he was doing the same thing? He was insulting people then asking them to apologize to him for things so ridiculous like misuse of grammar. Wish I had the time to go back and find all those posts.

That means (as far as I'm concerned) you can talk about it all you want as long as you don't tell others how to think, put down their religion or lack of.

Considering this is MAYOR'S site, I highly doubt he would ban the talk of religion, since he is a very spiritual man himself, and has joined many conversations with a religious basis.

As much as some people hope, religion isn't going away. It would be like saying "No more conversations about family". It's a daily part of our lives and hard to just keep quiet about.

I think FUNdamental hands it out just as much as he receives (insults) He often implies people are stupid if they do not agree with him.
As for religious discussions, I do not think they are banned. But the mods try to be sensitive to when it might get nasty, and that is why they close threads.
Anytime someone starts making personal attacks or gets offended by something that is said, it seems to me an appropriate time to shut it down.
As a person with very strong opinions, I understand that others have differing opinions that are just as strong. Without extreme care in presenting these opinions, feelings are hurt. And sometimes when you disagree with someone for expressing an opinion, you attack the person and not the opinion.

I would think so too... But LISA1013 said, "I would also think that this thread should be locked as all others that have to do with any type of religion." The next post was by a mod, who said, "I totally agree and am locking it." So apparently at least these two people, which included a mod think that any thread that has to do with any type of religion should be locked.

I understand what you are saying here. But what from the Christian Science post was grounds for closing it? It was a pretty simple clean thread. Do you think that I said something wrong in it, or do you think someone else said something wrong in it? Who do you think would have been really offended and hurt by what was said?

I'll say it again, unless is broke a DOD rule, the thread should not have been closed. A Mod's personal beliefs or lack thereof should not warrant the closing of a thread.

We've had this problem before around here.

And I'm still wondering . . . . WHERE'S MAYOR???

I cannot answer for the mods. It is always a judgement call, and it is their job to make those judegements. I am glad I am NOT a mod.

NO....he wouldn't ban the talk of religion, that's why he created TRUTHSOUP!! The last time there was a huge debate about religion, the topic got so heated that there were tons of people ticked off and nothing rational was being said anymore. It ended up in a insult fest that left several members hurt. It also spilled over in to every other thread or post after that no matter what the subject was. After Mayor saw what happened, he opened truthsoup in order to satisfy those that wanted to talk religion or anything controversial without it being on DOD and conflicting with every other thread posted.
If your desire to talk religion is so great, head over to [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] and voice your opinions. That's what it is there for. If you're worried about getting responses and don't see them coming, then maybe no one wanted to talk about it in the first place. If they want to debate about it bad enough, they will go there and discuss it with you. It does not need to be debated here just so the whole world can know how you think about this, that and the other.
Lisa1013 and Luv are two members that have been here the longest. They know exactly what happens to religious threads and where they are headed. I agree with them. Teraberry, take it to truthsoup please and let this topic die.

We are adults here not children. There is no reason to fight about religion. We are in America and have freedom of religion and freedom of speech. If you don't like the thread don't look at it.

I don't wear jewelry as a part of my religion and I don't go to the free jewelry posts or the jewelry deals post and post negative remarks. I just don't look at those threads. So in my opinion, if you don't like it don't look at it.

I do participate in religion threads because I am interested in other peoples views. I will not put others down for their religion and I don't see any reason why anyone else should either.

Like others who have already posted, What is your opinion Mayor?

Exactly! If you are a completely non-religious person, and see a thread titled "Let's talk religion" why on earth would you even click on it? I don't care for Dr. Atkins and his ideals, so I just don't click on the threads that are about him.

We have had MANY great conversations here about controversial subjects. That's what I like about this place - I can hear many different points of views about a certain subject.

I don't always participate in religious conversations here, but I like to read them to learn.

Just to clarify what I think about this. Truthsoup was created for when the discussions DO get heated. General religious discussions have never been banned or locked. HOWEVER: like chippers said, sometimes it's difficult to express an opinion without it coming across as a personal attack. And once that gets started, it tends to snowball.

Sorry Sandy. I know you asked that this thread be allowed to die, and I just bumped it. Most of the time I just don't know when to keep my mouth shut.
