Chatter box Do you plan your vacations, or just wing them?

I am a planner, always plan everything. I have to know what the hotel has to offer, what type of clothing I should bring, what type of stores are there, what type of things are there for me to do. It drives my DH nuts. He is spontaneous.

Funny you should ask....

This morning my roommate and I spontaneously decided that we are going to London for spring break. We got airfare and five nights in a pretty nice hotel for ~$600. I can't wait

That doesn't surprise me b/c you also like everything neat.
I am somewhat of an obsessive-compulsive neat freak, but I don't like to plan too much. Sometimes I DO call around to find hotel prices and plan that, but what we're going to do once we get there is usually spontaneous.

LOL, Loca's got me pegged!
As far as vacationing goes (like we go away SO often) I like to have an idea of what we would like to see and do. I don't go as far as having a daily itinerary planned out in advance , I'm not THAT bad. We're going to New Hampshire for a week in July. I can tell you where we're staying and what we'd like to accomplish but that's about it.

Off to orgainze the cupboards.......alphabetically

I'm with Loca - about the only real planning we do is where we're going & maybe the hotel, especially if we're bringing the kids with us.

My dad was Mr. Spontaneous about vacation plans when I was growing up. Usually, we'd pile in the car & he'd just start driving. Sometimes we'd find a nice place to stay & other times, he'd wind up driving for hours and hours and then we'd wind up camping. Of course this drove my poor mom crazy, so as we got older, the vacations turned into the 'fly to a set destination with the prebooked hotel' type.

I do however plan my itinerary once I'm at my vacation destination, so I guess I'm not totally anal about it. But this way I have ideas of where I want to go beforehand so it makes the most of the time I have there.
