With heartache and thankfulness, I send my support to all family with military

There has been alot of discussion of what we should shouldn't do right now. I just want you wives, moms, and sisters to know how much I care about the sacrifise that you are giving with your men gone.

I have tears in my eyes, this has got to be a horrible time right now. (((((((((((((sending you a big hug))))))))))))) If there is anything we can do to show support, please let us know. Maybe we can adopt your mans troop or something, I have heard you can adopt a troop.

That's a great idea Mayfly. I think it'd be great to send care packages and letters of thanks to these men (and women).

My daughters and I were just talking about this yesterday.
I told them that a lot of families have a Daddy (and some also a Mommy), who are leaving to go to another country in case we go to war.
Their response was "If My daddy was supposed to go, I wouldn't let him." Oh...the innocence of children, as if it could be that easy.

I explained that they don't have a choice, they have to go. This really sunk into my kids.
Everytime I see these families saying goodbye to each other on TV...I wonder if that is a family who will not see their loved one come back. It's hard to watch, and I feel for these families....our gratitude and thanks are not enough to those who protect us.
I think adopting a troop is a great idea.

I'm gonna see what kind of info i can dig up too i know if you contact the ombudsman of a ship/station/base they can help you in adopting troops and generally point you in the right directions, and all help and support is greatly appreciated

you know children adapt really well in those kinds of situations... my kids never really questioned when daddy was gone....... he was always just out in the field.. being stationed at a major base though..... he was out in the field at least half of any given month.. military children are rather resilient when they are used to daddy or mommy even being gone.... God bless them though if they only really truly knew what mess the world is in right now

aww..that is really nice of you.my husband just deployed and my kids are having a rough time of it..He is a Green Beret and they are VERY proud of him,but they worry like crazy at times..Let me share something I wrote after he left..
