Matthew's cast comes off tomorrow!!!

Bless his heart, he hasn't complained once. A real trooper!
Such a pain though, especially in the winter with the layers of clothes,etc.....

Cannot wait to put him in the tub tomorrow night, we've been bathing him with his arm up on the side of the tub (wrapped in a towel). I told him I can't wait to get a "normal" hug once the cast comes off

Congrats on your move BTW

On January 2 (Happy New Year) Matthew jumped off the console TV in our playroom, fractured his elbow.....went to Medi-Quick (they were WONDERFUL with him), took x-rays, put it in a splint and referred us to an orth. surgeon.

Initially the Dr. wanted to keep the splint on for 2-3 weeks, after about 2 days I called the office back and insisted on a cast. SO GLAD I did
The child JUST turned 5 on Dec. 19 and is a typical, very active lil boy..... a splint never would have been sufficient.

Just glad it's coming off tomorrow

Well, the cast is off (can't say that Matthew enjoyed the cast-removal process) ........the elbow is not completely healed so we're gonna see howit goes. There's a possibility he MAY have to have another cast for an additional 2-3 weeks. As it stands right now we don't go back until 2/10 for more x-rays,etc.....

I know you and Matthew are both so glad to get that cast off!

I will keep you both in my prayers though......I know until he is 100% he needs to be careful!

It's ONLY been 2 weeks, really don't knwo why they took it off so soon (especially if it MAY have to be re-cast)
So far so good though (of course it's only been 24 hrs since they removd it)

I meant to email you Naomi...I'm glad he's ok. It's been crazy with moving back to school and all.

I was picturing Matthew's jumping off the TV in the living room and i was like...how did he even get up there...lol.

But, you said the playroom...now it makes a bit more sense...lol.

Tell him Jess and David said GET BETTER SOON and STOP trying to fly...lol.

UPDATE:

Had a Dr's appt. first thing this morning. Took more X-rays. Dr. said everyone looks great but because this was a 'growth plate injury' he'll need to be re-checked (more X-rays) again in April, July and next January. His ONLY concern is that he doesn't want the growth plate to fuse prematurely (because of the fracture).

BUT, so far so good
