Question Are you getting your tax 'stuff' ready?

I decided today that I would get together all the receipts from the store and those that we needed like medical bills, etc for deductions for the last year and I sorted them and added them all up and made a nice little list. Well.......when I was doing them for my avon and watkins that I sell I was SHOCKED on how much I spend on business tools and demos as compared to the income I actually earned.

Hubby laughed when he saw the totals. He said as long as I was happy it was no big deal but WOW!! When I saw the numbers down on paper.......it made me think I was hurting myself more than helping myself! I mean, I spent ALOT on demos and books and all that good stuff.

And to think that I just signed up today to sell tupperware!! Oh boy am I in trouble now!!

Since I work in payroll, I am doing double time, getting other people's tax stuff ready (including mine). Our W-2's should be ready tomorrow so then I get to turn around and do that tax stuff all over again Weeeeeee!

I HATE TAX TIME.

We have state tax, fed tax, occupational privilege tax, earned income tax.......it NEVER ends. I pay so much it makes my toes curl when i write the checks.

And I can't decide what i hate more all the paperwork or the check writing. Both are painfull. It has gotten so confusing for me in the last couple of years that this year i finally hired a accountant but she is starting with 2003 and not my 2002, so one more year of agony.

If i could get rid of all the paperwork and time it takes for them to just say..hey you made this much so it is a flat fee i think i would be thrilled.

Oh well i have a few more months to get it all together.

This is one time of the year when it's great to have 4 children, LOL. Is it still $600.00 per child? If so, that's $2,400 just in child tax credits. I love my little tax deductions

Our employer always waits til the very end of January to sent the w-2's out, so I can't do much until then. Just organize everything.

I use Turbo Tax online, it's pretty easy even though we do itemize...and costs us around $25. Hubby makes too much to do the new free e-filing that I read about, I think you have to make less than $30,000?

After our disaster with H&R Block last year we are definitley having an accountant look at things before we file. Hubby bought a program and will probably in the end use it but we still want it double checked before we file. After all, we are STILL paying for that mistake H&R Block made........the IRS still can't figure out what happened and it such a mess. Even the CPA we hired to 'correct' the mistake had to contact the IRS since we are STILL getting letters from the IRS about the claim. But hopefully after this year we will be rid of that........of course only after they manage to deduct $690 from our refund this year. (of course the CPA said that isn't right and noone at the IRS can give an explanation other than H&R Block messed up the return so bad that it will take awhile to figure out what they done?! uh, excuse me but does it honestly take almost a year to figure these things out?! )
