I still HAVE my POW bracelet! My guy was officially MIA and has never been found. There is a place online where you can check this, but I don't remember what it was, now.

I remember NONE of them. Before my time.

I do remember when there was no internet.

When no one had a cell phone unless you were REALLY important.

Everyone's phone was corded.

you know, stuff like that.

I had one of those POW bracelets, I wore it every day 'til the war ended. I never did find out if the guy was alive or dead, no response to my letter, but then there were probably millions of other people wearing a bracelet with his name on it.

Does anyone remember when TV went off the air for the night and a pattern came on it? I don't think there were any TV shows after midnight. We've sure come a long way since then.

Party lines..........yes! We had four other people on our line, and we all lived on the same street. I remember, too, that you only had to dial 5 numbers to call someone. For example, to call 123-4567, you only had to dial 3-4567. Now we have to dial the area code plus the seven numbers just to call the neighbors!

Dark Shadows.........Barnabas, Angelique, Quentin............LOL. I used to watch it every day at 4:00, after I got home from school. Remember the song, "Quentin's Theme?" They used to play that when something eerie was going on with him. I had the sheet music to that (probably still have it...LOL) and could play it on the piano. Hmmmmm....maybe I'll go see if I can find that on KaZaA and download it, just for old times' sake!

I used to drink Tab. That wasn't a very good diet cola, but you could get used to it. They've improved a WHOLE lot since then! And Fresca. Of course, they still make Fresca, though I haven't seen it around in our area for a long time.

I remember all this too and lots more!!

When we had an "outhouse" for our toilet

The ice man to bring ice to cool keep our food in the ice box

coal to heat with and freezing if it went out in the night.

heating water for our baths

washing clothes in a wringer washer and hanging them up to dry

having to iron everything..lol..hated ironing!

sock hops at school

AND LOTS MORE

I also remember when fun was walking to church choir practice and hanging out with the ministers wife and choir director.

and I remember the most...children always did what they was told the first time. And had respect for elders

LOL! In defense of the phone thing, you have to know that I live in a VERY rural area, so it probably had more to do with that, than with how long ago it was. The whole town only has a population of 200 NOW. Heck, our whole COUNTY has a population much, much smaller than some small cities!

We still don't have cable TV here...

Now that I've made where I live sound like some hick town, part of an earlier civilization... LOL

I DO!! I could live just about anywhere and be happy, but my DH just LOVES it out here where you could count the number of cars that go past our house in a day and lose count because you forgot what number you were on the last time a car went by.

Oh yeah the styles defiately come back.

In '69 I had this fantastic royal blue pair of Bell-Bottom hip-Huggers! Oh I loved those pants. shoot even thinking of those makes me smiles and feel young again.

And now My grandaughter who will be 13 in the spring ( and has a fully developed figure already) is wearing what I could swear are Bell-Bottom Hip-Huggers.. (but she has a diff name for them.) Oh and hers are a couple inches too long over her jogging shoes whereas mine weren't cuz I wore suede boots with mine.

My grandaughter is gonna knock 'em dead and she's wearing a style of pants like her granny wore!!

I'm serious! I think we started having to dial all seven numbers sometime while I was in junior high or high school. I was in 8th grade in 1969-1970, so it was around then, give or take a year or two.

Styles? Hip-hugger bell-bottoms, Huk-A-Poo sweaters (they all had angora in them, they were COOL), hot pants, scooter skirts, CPO jackets, platform shoes, peasant blouses, Nik-Nik shirts (men's), mini-skirts and micro-mini skirts, shag haircuts....
