It's not the swimmers, it's the uterine contractions.

I was at the other end of the spectrum, trying not to go into labor too early. Then we had a scheduled c-section (due to them being twins, the bottom one breech and the top one transverse).

Not a word. I bet she had the baby. We probably will not hear from her until she is home from the hospital.

Love yep, she's here!

Sorry guys, no computer in the hospital. lol

Yep, my crappy feeling was the beginnings of 13 hours of labor. And now she's here!

[Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]

And my husband is never allowed to call me a wuss again. I got no drugs until the tylenol they gave me 3 hours after she was born. And when she was first placed on my chest and was alert enough to look directly at me and then around at all of her admirers, I was really happy with that decision.

So far she's a really good baby. We're just trying to get the whole nursing thing figured out.

DH is on paternity leave for the next week, so we've decided to try sleeping a bit in shifts so we can play catch-up a bit on sleep. I think I've had 5 hours sleep in the past 3 nights.

Wow, 5 DOD pages dedicated to my little Alyssa. You guys are great.

Jackie

OH JACKIE, CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU BOTH!!!!
Your precious lil bundle is absolutely GORGEOUS!!! Nice healthy weight (my Matthew was 8.9)

Enjoy each and every moment with your daughter. TRY to rest when you can......

Welcome to the world (and the DOD family) little Alyssa May

Hugs,
Naomi

PS~ Told ya feeling crappy was a good thing

Child of My Heart

From the moment that I knew about you,
I loved you.
For months I carried you under my heart.
Watching you grow,
And waiting for the day when I would finally meet you.
When they placed you in my arms,
I loved you even more.
I held you snugly to my breast and stared into your eyes with total amazement.
Then as you grew and went through life's many stages,
My amazement grew to awe.
You are a part of me and yet you are not.
You are who you are.
And all that you have been, all that you are, all that you will be,
Makes me love you even more.
You are my child,
My legacy,
Through you I will live forever.
For as you grow and as your children and their children will grow,
You will each carry on a part of me.
Though I love you not for the immortality that you give me,
But for the child of my heart that you are.

Congratutlations! I'm glad she is healthy and alert... and gorgeous!

Hope the nursing goes well. It sometimes can be painful with uteran contractions (but they are good for you), and sore nipples, but once you get past the first couple weeks it should be smooth sailing. For every year you breastfeed you reduce your risk of breast cancer by about 4%, and for every child you bear you reduce it by about 7%... so it's a bit of encouragement for you. I nursed three children - each for about a year. I'm so glad I did. It is a special event if life - not long-lasting... although it may seem like it at the time. Try to get some rest. I know that's hard... but hang in there!

God bless you all!

Yea!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome to the world Alyssa!!!!!
I missed whether or not it's your first. If it is, know that you've got all us mommies here at DoD to help you out if you have any concerns. Don't forget to rest as much as possible during these first few weeks. Those dishes and laundry can wait another day! (Unless DH does them of course!) Congrats to you and Dennis!!

Awwwwwww would you look at her, she's precious!!!! When my first son was born ( 8lbs. 14 oz ) it was like a whole new world. In a good way of course once you looked past all of the new Mommy jitters and sleep deprivation. LOL! I think she's a perfect size also, she has enough weight that she has those baby rolls, ya know, it always looks like they have a rubber-band around their wrists! LOL! You and Dennis make pretty little girls! Congrats! Welcome to the world Alyssa May!!!

Here's a word of advice...

Buy paper plates and cups for a while. They really are not that expensive and it is well worth it when you have a newborn!!! It made a big difference for me - not having to do any dishes for a couple months. I remember I was so tired their were days when once the baby was asleep I'd have to debate whether to take a shower that day, or just go right down for my own nap.

You mean I might have time for a shower? That'd be so nice! lol

I did get paper plates and cups when they went on sale after xmas....but using DH at the moment for cooking, cleaning, and dishes. He goes back to work in about a week, so we'll transition to the fine china after that. We also froze a few batches of soup so I won't have to cook too much in the near future. A friend brought us dinner last night. I didn't realize just how much we'd appreciate that. And baby slept through dinner, so we were able to sit at the table like adults and it was quiet enough for conversation.

Now, does anyone have any advice on how to convince her that it's just as nifty to sleep in her bassinet or even in the car seat as it is to sleep on my chest?

Jackie

Congartulations! She's adorable!

I found a Swiffer Wet Jet to be extremely useful when my baby was a newborn (and now that she's 8 months, too ) I also really like the fizzy toilet things, the scrubbing bubbles wipes, windex wipes, and those meals in a box (like homestyle bakes). Life with a baby is so much easier these days...so what if I have to spend a little more $, its worth it for sanity's sake!
