Awwww Jackie...the last stretch is just the worst. Ummm...a little something that is suppose to help "kick in labor" (and SAFE, not like some of the stuff I've heard) is..ummm.."intimate activity"....at this late in the game it always felt like work to me...but hey, it couldn't hurt to try Ummm..oh yeah, the uhhh..."swimmers" are suppose to be what "helps"...hope I didn't offend anyone here..yipes.
Good luck babe...get your rest while you still can She's going to be a true beauty!

Don't worry mouse, already done it! lol. Although I think today was the last time we're going to try that. It was really really uncomfortable.

I cleaned all day too...to near exhaustion. (Not nesting just heard it might help lol.) And I've been trying to stay on my feet most of the day.

Getting some braxton hicks and some tightening. Hoping they'll keep up and trigger the real thing. DH is convinced she's going to crown on January 26 right as the clock is winding down on the superbowl. (Lucky for me he's not a big football guy, so his chiding is just that....he won't have the superbowl on while I'm in labor...I don't think. lol.)

Off to do jumping jacks...

Jackie

I can't. I hurt. Sciatica kicked in. Still no good pain.

Why can't she just come already?

OH MERCY..I had the same problem for about the last three months and it remained pinched for at least 3 months after Codey was born. They even tried inducing me a week before, but it didn't "work"..I was in mild labor for about 5 hours and nuffin'. Funny, I was induced w/ the first two tho...LOL! I couldn't even walk in an upright position it was that bad. Labor was ez compared to that darn pinched nerve. I cried, p'd and moaned a LOT more over that. I'd grab a cart at the store even if I was just getting bread because my legs would just give out on me w/o any warning...I'm sure to those who had no idea what was going on I looked like a strung out preggie!!!!
I did a lot of walking w/ Codey...he was born in Oct. and that year was very mild, actually on the warm side so it was refreshing, I'd freeze this time of year.
I went into labor while I was trying to finish sewing the valance for his room. The pains kicked in and I even said "God, if you make these stop right now, I promise to finish this curtain AND get the last of the hard wood floor (in nursery) finished." LOL! Ummm, didn't work! LOL! I felt like an idiot tho..I had never gone into labor on my own so it was really a "first" for me. I didn't breathe a word to hubby (well, he wasn't my hubby until after Codey was born), kissed him goodnight as always and then waited until the last possible minute to wake him up..LOL! I even called my Mom to come in to be w/ the other two before I woke him up...LOL! It was his first child (and only), he was a maniac! LOL! Just a nervous wreck. It was actually quite sweet. Since I knew the "routine" I got to really see how he reacted to everything. Ok..enuf ramblin'...it was nice tho to think about such a happy time in our life
Ok...don't do the jumping jacks...how about a nice relaxing bath...your body will get a chance to fully relax and if you happen to be having any false labor pains, chances are good they will stop during a bath. At least mine did. I even got in the tub when I went into labor just to make sure it wasn't false again...and to shave my legs..LOL!!!! Good luck hon'....sorry, but we're footballs fans and I think it would be kinda cool to have your baby born during Super Bowl XXXVII (<-- Altho San Diego buses have it as TWENTY SEVEN, lol)

I've been fairly lucky with the sciatica. I typically don't feel anything until after I've been lifting or something. I would get it really bad after helping to unload trucks at work, but I stopped doing that around the start of the third trimester. I wouldn't really be lifting anything heavy, but I guess repetitively lifting the small stuff got the sciatica going.

Yesterday I did a ton of cleaning which required me squatting a lot, so it had already started pinching a little. But then, after DH left for work, I decided that I had to make the bed 'cause I'd just finished washing the sheets. BUT, it was time to flip the mattress and I didn't want to make the bed and then have to unmake it tomorrow so that DH could do it. Well....it really got the sciatica going, but I did it and I'm proud. lol

I just slept for a few hours figuring if the Braxton Hicks contractions turned into the real deal I'd need some rest before trying to do the whole labor thing. Plus, sleep usually helps cure the sciatica from the day before. Well....the BH contractions are gone and nothing has taken their place. The sciatica is still kicking though....but only on one side. lol. Ah well.

I know exactly what you mean about the cart. I work retail and all through the day I kept a cart handy. My hips would sometimes just decide to give out and I didn't want to fall. lol. I'm sooo glad I'm on maternity leave now. Just wish I didn't have to go back to work so soon after the baby's born. Another reason I keep hoping to have her on time. Financially, I'm gonna have to go back to work by March 1 whether she's born now or two weeks from now.

Come out Alyssa!!!! lol.

Jackie

Have you dilated at all? (sorry if you mentioned this in an earlier post)

How far past your due date will your Dr. let you go?
I was induced 4 days after Matthew's due date, they were afraid he was just gonna be too big and I really wanted to avoid a repeat C-section .....he was 8.9 and, fortunately, I was able to deliver naturally

Best of luck to you, wishing you an "easy" and uncomplicated labor and delivery.

C'mon Alyssa

Naomi

As of Thursday I was 2 cm dilated with a "favorable cervix" lol.

The doctor said he wouldn't be surprised if she came before the end of the weekend and thinks she'll certainly be here within a week of that appointment. (So by next Thursday.)

They'll let me go two weeks late though if she doesn't want to come on her own. I'd prefer to avoid an induction, so that's fine.

I found out something funny today though. I was born Jan 10, 1977. The Superbowl that year was the 9th. The Raiders won that game against the Vikings. My mom went into labor around 10am on the 9th and headed to the hospital around 10pm. I was born the next day around 3:30pm. Wouldn't it be weird if I went into labor tomorrow?

Jackie

OMG Jackie...that would be too wild!!! Altho, psst..I'd rather the Raiders NOT win this SB
Try to relax babe....that way if you DO go into labor, you won't be all worn out from trying to "nudge" it along

I think that's my plan Mouse. I swear I tried just about everything I felt comfortable trying yesterday. (I'm scared of trying castor oil or black and blue cohosh, etc.) It didn't work. Not a bit.

So I've given up. She's going to be late. How late is up to her.

Jackie

Yeah, the castor oil scared me also. I just know if I would have taken it, I would probably have gone into labor on my own within 2 minutes and can you imagine the embarrassment later when the castor oil actually kicked in!!!! LOL! Now worth it to me!!! NOR YOU Glad to read you feel the same

Hey, a favorable cervix is good!

Sounds like it's going to happen sooner rather than later, hope so for your sake, the waiting for something to happen is maddening ( I remember all too well) .

Good Luck
