SUV owners supporting terrorists

Have any of you watched the commercial by the Detroit project about SUV owners supporting terrorists?

It's a little kid talking and basically says that because SUV's consume so much gas, that we are helping the countries linked to terror who in turn help finance the terrorists.

It's a "thinker" of a commercial.. but I don't necessarily agree 100% (I'm an SUV driver).

I know, I saw that ad, and they were talking about the SUV owners supporting terrorism on the news today. Actually it probably does make more sense to buy a smaller vehicle 'cause then we are not relying on these countries for as much fuel.

I agree with you. It would economically and environmentally make more sense.

But:

I doubt the bank will forgive my auto loan on my SUV in order to spare the environment and stop terrorism.

and

I doubt that a Ford Festiva will pull my 18 foot ski boat. LOL

That is rediculous!! I drive a Honda Civic which is really really good on gas. But, don't we all use gas? That would make us all at fault. I may get good gas mileage but I drive an average of 50k miles a year. Some SUV drivers probably use less gas than I do in the long run. I have not seen the ad but I think there are bigger problems to deal with than that. Doing drugs supports terrorists and that is not a need in life (even though some may think it is) if we are going to stop doing stuff that supports terrorists we need to start with stuff we don't need first!! As I was typing this they said something about it on the news. If someone is that bored to think this up I have a whole list of more productive things they can do.

IMHO!!

The main people behind that ad (all the financial support for the ad) are rich people who take limos and private jets to their destinations. A bunch of hypocrits. We have 3 very economical cars: a Civic, a 4 cylinder Nissan pickup, and a Mitsubishi, but I have no problem with anyone owning an SUV or whatever vehicle they want.

I hate the ad!I think it takes away from the antidrug ad by giving those doing drugs an out by letting them think buying drugs is no worse than buying gas.
I think it would have been better to ask all of us to ride share, use public transportation,or fuel saveing way of travel once a week. That would save us more gas than getting rid of SUV's.

I've always wondered about that. Is a pickup truck considered an SUV? My husband drives a huge land monster of a pickup and the thing gets like no miles to the gallon. Is that better or worse than an SUV??? I think some people just have to have something to complain about.

I have a soccer mom van and an explorer. Know what they both get about 25 mpg for me.

I drive less than 10000. a year on them each so I know I dont use as much gas as some people who may get over 30 mpg on their vehicles but do more miles.

Know what........ if you order online you are helping support terrorists because UPS uses LOTS of Fuel with their ground shipping. lol

sheesh.

I don't think that is any different than driving to the store to purchase the same item.

Sounds like a new commercial opposing these morons who obviously have too much time on their hands......I LIKE IT!!

It really bothers me that people actually did this. Did anyone see the commercial with the childs voice? That poor child should not be involved in adult matters. That child is going to be really messed up (who knows, maybe even a brainwashed terrorist) and we will have to pay for it later. Someone has taken that childs innocence away.

By the line of thinking(?) they are trying to run...everybody who uses gasoline is supporting terrorists...if using gas means someone is supporting terrorists, then you are supporting terrorists whether you use a teaspoon of gasoline or 20 gallons.
Supporting is supporting.

I guess I better get a goat to chew my grass so I won't support terrorists by mowing the lawn.

They can say driving an SUV is harder on the environment if they want to, they can even say it's wasteful, but supporting terrorism??!?! Puh-leeze, on every level that's just stupid.

See my signature line !!

Next time you go to fill up you might consider using certain
stations that buy oil from countries that are less likely connected
to supporting terrorist activity.

And another great idea is to write to your politicians in supporting
better fuel economy standards, and use of electrical/gas cars.
Hey read a article about Super Car that gets 80 mpg.

My bf had a good point...he said instead of these losers spending all of that money advertising the should use it to offer incentives to buy cars that run off electricity.
