Chatter box Many blessings to share!

I just have to share this news that I am so excited about. Some of you might know that my DH was deployed overseas for 7 months with his Army National Guard unit last year. When he got back, the economy had really taken a toll on his civilian company, so we found ourselves in a position where he was not making nearly the same amount of money that he had when he left.

So, he started to look into a full time position with the Guard. This process really can take forever, and the amount of paperwork is huge, but he really stuck with it. The great news is, he finally got a position as a recruiter! He starts January 13th, and we will be really bringing home a lot more income, not to mention the benefits really coming in handy. The insurance is especially important because I just found out that I'm pregnant with our THIRD!

What's really great is that he will be bringing home enough income for me to be able to quit my night job. I have been working for a catalog company as an evening sales supervisor in order to supplement our income. I get home from work at about 1am, and then have to get up early with the boys to get them off to school. I am so glad that will stop and I'll be able to concentrate on my own school.

School is another wonderful thing that has happened. I had 4 years of college, but never completed my degree. I found a completion program at a great university where I can go one night a week and have my B.A. in Elementary Education as well as my certification within about 18 months. It's an accelerated program, and so much reading and homework is involved, I never thought I'd be able to make it. But I've gotten A's in my first three classes so far, and I am almost through with the first semester! I will be glad just to make it through with the pregnancy and all of the changes in our life.

I just wanted to share with all of my friends on the board. DOD has helped me through rough financial times and helped me to find deals for gifts for family and friends that I wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise. I hope that I have been able to help others as well. God Bless you all!

Kristin

3tbear is welcome here
bestmidwest, it sounds as 'though this will be a very good year for you. Congrats to your husband on his new job, on your pregnancy and your ability to finish your education. That is absolutely terrific!
I went to college before myself, never got my degree, and I am presently attending college. Since I work full-time it is difficult, so last semester I took 1 subject, but I passed that, have a 4.0 average. Now this semester I'll be taking 2 classes and I hope I can maintain my good grades. It will be difficult I'm sure with working so much, but I'm willing to take that chance. Good for you, I think going to school is the right decision. You will never regret it.
