Big grin There ARE still nice people out there.......

Made plans earlier in the week to have drop Steven off at his friend's house @1:00. Charlie (took the day off), Matthew and were going to go grocery shopping while Steven was at his friend's. On the way to his friend's house we stopped off at Dunkin Donuts to pick up some Munchkins (hate to go anywhere empty-handed). Being the lazy people we are, LOL, we went thru the drive-thru. A couple of cars ahead of us, they were in an out. There was a young girl in the car in front of us, placed a pretty big order, lotta coffees,etc.......
Took a nice nap just waiting to place our measley order
Then I took another nap while waiting for them to fill her order
Finally get up to the window, the guy hands me the Munchkins and tells me I'm all set. Huh? Am I like the 100th customer of the day or something?
He then proceeds to tell me that the girl in front of us (starting to pull out of the driveway at this point) took care of our order, she felt bad for making us wait.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
What a kind and thoughtful gesture!

As she drove by I tooted and waved, my way of saying THANK YOU

The funny part is that just minutes before, waiting to pull into DD (a chore in itself) no one would let me in (even though they had a red light up ahead and were slowing down, GRRR). I said to Charlie it's too bad that more people don't have the "holiday spirit".
It's random acts of kindness such as this that truly warm my heart and convince me that there still ARE some decent people out there!!!
Naomi

LOVE IT!

I saw something like this on Oprah before and I have done it on a couple of occasions at McD's. I figure the few extra bucks I have at the time would just go to something probably goofy anyways..might as well brighten someone else's day instead....let's not forget that I have had my fair share of people doing the "unexpected" for me as well. I truly believe in "what comes around, goes around." or if anyone prefers "what goes around, comes around."
I think it's great that you were all tickled over something that many people would just take for granted Naomi.

That was so nice, Naomi. It reminds me of a day when I took my Mom to see a flower show (which I thought was free). As we both stood digging through our purses for the entry fee we managed to come up with the money. We were a little strapped that day. On approaching the gate, the man said the young couple that just went in had paid for our tickets! When I tried to find them and thank them they were nowhere in sight. We never saw them during the whole tour of the gardens.

That was so nice. I think the world would be a better place if we all did a little of the random kindness stuff every day. I try. Sometimes I hold doors for people, especially young parents struggling with kids. Sometimes I return carts to the cart catcher for elderly folks or young parents. I have often supplied the missing penny, nickel or dime at the cash register for the person in front of me. One time I let a very harassed looking gentleman with twin boys go ahead of me in a line so he could finish faster.

My favorite random act of kindness occurred when my hubby and I were out celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. We went to a bed and breakfast for 3 nights and on the night of our anniversary we went to a fairly nice restaurant for dinner. There were only a few people in the restaurant and we struck up and maintained a very nice conversation with the couple next to us. They mentioned they had recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. We talked about families and our lives. They left before we did, and when we called for our check.......the waiter said it was taken care of and would we like dessert?

Aww, that was so nice, and I loved Chipper's story about 25th anniversary!

I'm tearing up here...or is it just my pregnancy hormones??? I get so teary eyed so easily nowadays! I can't even watch those Publix commercials LOL

Yes, something like this goes a long way. Look how many people it's already touched, indirectly?

Makes me think of that old church song:

It only takes a spark, to get a fire going, and soon all those around, will warm up in it's glowing... that's how it is with God's love, once you've experienced it, you share His love with everyone, you want to pass it on.

I couldn't agree more. It also goes along with the saying "pay it forward"

Don't pay me for my favors or kind doings....do something nice, in turn, for someone else!!

If more people did this kind of stuff instead of being so selfish & self centered the world would be a much better place!

That is so nice.

A little gesture goes a VERY long way. Just a week or so after Shane was born I had to make a run to Kmart to get things like dog food, diapers, etc. I put the dogfood under the cart, and when it came time to put it in the van I was struggling to get it out from under the cart. A guy walked by to return his cart, then on his way back he asked if he could help me, so he took the dogfood from under the cart and loaded it in the van for me. He really made my night! Thesedays most guys would just walk on by and pretend they never saw me.

I like doing nice things for people too. But not everyone appreciates it, they look at you like there's a catch.

HOW TRUE!!! We seem to have everyone and their brother break down, hit an animal or run out of gas right here. Well, it was a month or 2 ago when Angus started going nuts barking and such. It was about 3 p.m. or so and I knew it wasn't the UPS man so I went around checking all three doors. Turned out to be 2 fellas had ran out of gas. They were pretty rough looking, but I think I recognized "the look" rather quickly since I was married to a roofer...I admit to being a little thrown back at first because I had Codey home that day sick. Well...there's a tiny town RIGHT down the road w/ a gas station and I told them I would run there with one of our 50 gas cans (lol, of course none w/ a drop in it..LOL!)..My hubby has ran out of gas more times than I can count and has ALWAYS been lucky to have someone at least stop..it seemed to be my turn to return the favor. They kept trying to offer me money..money for the gas, money for my time etc..I finally had to tell them the longer I had to stand here arguing about money, the longer it would be before I could get there and back..LOL! FINALLY they just let me help out! LOL! I told my hubby I didn't want money for the gas or time because of how many times he was a dork and THOUGHT he could make it to the gas station to or from work himself. Codey was feeling much better by this time since he basically spent the day resting, heck, he probably needed to get out for a little fresh air even if it was only 10 minutes..LOL! It's a little sad when you think of how many people are now thrown for a loop at a tiny act of kindness. The man gave me his business card (contractor) and told me if I ever needed anything to give him a holler...well...I thought that was sweet and I told him to just remember this the next time he was tempted to drive on past someone who was "stranded".
