Baffled What Are You Going To Fix For Christmas Dinner?

I was going to make a turkey because our Thanksgiving meal came pre-cooked. Now were eating so much leftover turkey I need to make something different.

Were debating on what to have.
Mexican?
A ham?
?????

Christmas eve we just munch on a variety of stuff and don't have a real sit-down meal.

So, what are you going to fix?

cata5 is welcome here
We are not hosting Christmas this year and in fact are going to a relative's home early for brunch to accomodate those who are traveling that day. That should be interesting.

If you're tired of the usual turkey or ham, try a pork loin. They have the marinated kind that are very tasty.

So can we all come to your house for Christmas then? What the
heck, no point in all of us doing the cooking. Howsabout we take
a poll to see what everyone wants to eat, and then you wouldn't
even have to make the decision. I know, I know, it's so very
thoughtful of me. But hey, I'll bring the wine!

Anyone else want to jump aboard? C'mon, DODers, let's all show
AndersonGal how much we appreciate her by joining her for
Christmas! YEAH, Christmas in Connecticut!

PS - I vote for Cata's idea. Pork loin sounds swell

Cool Fine with me.

We could have a pot luck Christmas.

Pork does sound good but my new kid (the relative I told you was coming to live with me is here now) doesnt do pork. Want to make them feel wanted this Christmas since it will prob be a hard one them.

My aunt did all foods from Denmark last year since that's where were from but I don't think this crowd would be happy with that (or me).

So, let's do the pot luck.

For Christmas Eve I'm doing a Ham and a Turkey Breast (don't want to cook a whole turkey). Sides of cole slaw, Cheesy Hashbrown caserole, fresh baked buns, Green Beans . . . . my MIL and mother will probably bring dessert - apple and pumpkin pies. (I don't do pies).

Christmas Day my SIL is having us over, not sure what she's making.

When my mom has Christmas Eve, she usually makes lasagna - our request!

We don't really have anything special to eat on X'mas Eve, whatever is in the house, or just a snack before heading off to my sister's house to open gifts. Sometimes we'll eat at my sister's and she and her hubby will order pizza, nothing fancy. The company I work for gives us our choice of a free turkey, a ham, or cheese pack as a X'mas gift. Last year we got the ham, and this year I put down for the same. It was a good sized smoked ham and lasted an awfully long time. Can't wait for that again, my mouth is watering!

Hmmm, Shainie, you're even closer to me, so we're all coming over to your house for Christmas Eve. Yeah, Christmas back in Minnesota! Oh, I'm originally from Minneapolis, BTW, so it makes perfect sense to have dinner with you. Gosh, I guess you're pretty excited, huh? MMMM, cheesy hashbrowns.

MmmmmmMmmmmMmmmm..I love pork...well..anything except porkchops! BLECH!

I won't be cooking anything again...we have the large gathering, I make just baked beans, bread and MAYBE a dessert. Go to Mom and Dad's and MIL and MIL's xmas eve...Mom makes quite a bit of food, but it's not a "formal" dinner. I love having ham for Christmas dinner tho. Oh yeah..the meatballs Mom and I make also..don't know what the "dish" is called, but the sauce is sauerkraut (chopped in food processor), jellied cranberry sauce, chili sauce, brown sugar...I can't think if that's all..I think it is. I LOVE them, but I get bored rolling the meatballs. Haven't found a frozen premade kind either that I REALLY like.

Hmmm... I think I'll just go to Chelle's house for dinner.

The rest of the family can do frozen pizzas or something. I cooked enough for Thanksgiving that I don't even want to think about another holiday dinner.

OOOOOH, Chelle, Chelle, ahahahaha, hehehehe, bwahahahaha, are you ever in trouble. Guess where I live. Yeppers, right here in good ol' Southern California. So, sorry all of you others, what can I do, it's my civic responsibility to maintain a front right here in my own backyard.

Now Chelle, if you'll just send me the pertinent info, DH and I can't wait. He just loves prime rib. Me, I'll dive into the peach cobbler. Oh, tell me what kind of wine to bring. Howsabout a nice Bordeaux?

Hey, Kat, need a ride to Chelle's? Anybody else?

<no chelle, DOD does not have a witness protection program
so you're stuck with us!>

Chelle, Chelle, ya cut me to the bone. I mean really, do I seem like the kind of person who'd bring wine in a box? Sheesh! Lucky for me that Rite-Aid has a great sale on Ripple (or was it Thunderbird?). Betcha Big Lots has got a great little number on sale too. See, I got crass, um, class I mean.

Now about the address and directions.......

<Chelle runs into her bedroom and, throwing a suitcase down on
her bed, shoves clothing in quickly without regard for neatness.
Grabbing purse and passport, she dashes out of the house,
looking around furtively in case she was spotted. NO, she's safe.
On her way to the airport she thinks, "hmm, betcha the skiing is
great in Gstaad this time of year, and they'll never find me there!".
Stay tuned for our next episode as chelle meets Karl, the
handsome Swiss ski instructor>
