Need favorite Christmas movie suggestions...

Other than "It's a Wonderful Life", and "The Santa Clause".

This will be a real hard Christmas for my Dad and I, since we lost Mom in September. My DH has to work on Christmas day (firefighter), so I was thinking of taking a meal into my Dad along with some Christmas goodies, and him, the kids and I could watch some Christmas movies.
Can't have anything sad (for obvious reasons), uplifting would be good.

What would you suggest? Thanks!

My favorite has always been the original Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

Another good once is A Year Without a Santa Claus.

Both are great and are "kids" movies, but great for all ages!

We always watch *A Christmas Story* on Thanksgiving and *It's A Wonderful Life* on Christmas.

But I don't see why A Christmas Story wouldnt work. Everyone I know likes that movie and nothing sad about it.

Hope you can enjoy the holidays, they are so hard on the emotions with all those memories floating about.

Can't do without the laugh riot of all time....

CHRISTMAS VACATION!!!

Suggestions that are more geared towards adults would be

- While You Were Sleeping (yes, it's a Christmas movie!)

- The Ref (DEFINITELY for grown-ups only, due to language!)

Hope your hearts can heal during this holiday season!

A Christmas story is really funny and appealing to all ages. I've always likes the Charlie Brown Christmas movie too.

Personally, I never liked "A Christmas Story." I just couldn't stand that kid. I've always loved "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Miracle on 34th Street" (the Maureen O'Hara/John Payne version).

Here are some good old movies that your dad might enjoy:

Christmas in Connecticut (1945)

And don't forget, the first TWO Home Alone movies are pretty darn good, and great for the kids!! (Can't believe they made a third one, and now they're going to have a FOURTH?!?!?)

Hey Brenda, this one is a classic. If you haven't yet seen it, it is very cute, funny. It's called "A Christmas Story". See the following web-site for a description.

It's not a movie, but the little-known Chuck Jones version of "A Christmas Carol" is fabulous and is also, hands down, the most faithful adaptation of the story ever done. It won the best animated short Oscar in its year, but it only aired on national TV once, in the early 70s. It even employed Alastair Sim as the voice of Scrooge! For more info on this forgotten gem, see
