| i have travelled with infants and kids of all ages and being a cheap person i always carried my infants in my lap, instead of paying for a seat. I dont think you would need the base but i am not sure if the seat would go backwards or forwards. also the seat would have to be in the window seat so it doesnt block anyones access to the aisle. with my kids, when travelling, i usually give them some sudafed to help with the ears and i also make sure they are drinking something during take off and landing, with nursing infants i nursed at these times. other kids had cups, lollipops or cheerios. you want something that will make them suck and swallow so they can keep their ears cleared. good luck with the travelling.

| We've been on many airplane trips with our son, now a toddler. I don't think you need the base, esp. if your carseat will let you rig the seatbelt to it without the base. (Check the instructions, if you have them, or call the manufacturer... there are ways of doing this...) We brought our base because we wanted to have it at our destination. It does add to the weight of all that you tow! Like rafala, I usually carried our baby, unless it was an open flight and they let me bring the seat on the plane without buying an extra ticket for him. And I agree with rafala, nurse or give the bottle during take-off and landing. Your neighbors and your baby especially will appreciate it. Good luck on your adventure! __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. | I would always bring a car seat on a plane.....I would not EVER let her ride without one in a car so why in the world do it on a plane???? Hit a bit of turbulance and one jolt that baby can end up being smashed into the roof of the plane! If you have the money it is worth the safety of your child in my book to buy a seat and have them strapped in it! I had watched a whole news story on what happened to lap babies in a crash (not even a "deadly" one) or even rough turbulance and I would never want that to happen to my child. __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. | Please if you can use your carseat. Not only is it safer but it is also a familer comfotable place for yor little one.Bringing your own carseat also means you do not have to use a rental car one if you rent a car(messy or in disrepair sometimes). |

| i dont think they allow you to NOT take a carseat now. my brother went to disney in FL two years ago (when he was 3) and they made my mom bring a carseat for him...mandatory. not sure if it's a regulation by the industry or by the airline though. my mom would NOT let him go w/o one though and i wouldnt let my child either. ive been on flights with BAD turbulence. i can only imagine what that could do to a baby not properly strapped in. |
