| Recently "Bohemian Rhapsody" from Queen was voted the greatest hit of the past 50 years. Do you agree? If not, what would be your choice? Imagine & Hey Jude were 2nd and 3rd. __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. | Yech...I never thought too much of Queen and always thought "Bohemian Rhapsody" was overrated and overplayed, much like Frampton's "Do You Feel?" and Manfred Mann's "Blinded By The Light". I always thought Stephen Still's "Love The One You're With" is one of the best songs ever put together. The composition and performance is powerful, especially when that Hammond B3 kicks in. Other's I'd rank really high: Moody Blues "Nights In White Satin" Chicago's "Make Me Smile" Clapton's "Layla" and Zeppelin's "Stairway To Heaven", although both were overplayed on the airwaves. Emerson, Lake & Palmer's "Lucky Man" ...and there's so much good stuff out there and great songs that never made airplay. What a pity. To me, the mark of good music is tunes that never grow old. You can listen to them time and time again and still love them. Who's going to pick up some of their rap albums in ten years and play them as often as I play albums I've been fond of since the 60s? "Abbey Road" comes to mind as one of those. __________________ [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] |
