| Need some ideas for photo gifts
I want to give some family members photos for xmas. I may enlarge and frame them or put them in a collage...sounds boring...Do you have any other ideas? It has to be inexpensive, of course. Also, I'd like to do something for my kids with a bunch of pictures we've stored. They haven't seen them for a couple of years and will have fun with them. I was thinking of individual small albums, but I haven't really thought it out yet. Any thoughts would be welcome. Thanks! |

Buy plain inexpensive canvas tote bags, have photos imprinted on them, or on pillowcases. A photo calendar with different photos for each month. A photo of a loved one in a basic frame you decorate with things they do as hobbies, perhaps glue on a small pair of doll skates, or buttons for people who do crafts. Well, you get the idea. Another idea, take the photos, put them in something like a scrapbook, put memories next to each photo of things you did together as a family, drawings from childhood days, that time you went for ice-creams or spent having a picnic in a park, special memories you want the kids to remember forever. __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. I make photo Christmas ornaments. They are little wooden pciture frames. the wood part can be painted any way you desire...christmas theme, hobby of person in pic, etc. there is a piece of glass, just like in a real frame, and a hanger for the tree... These are $3.50 each if you are interested...I also give good discounts if you buy more than 2... __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. How about having color copies made and making a reverse decoupage serving plate like for cookies and such. I made a few and candy dishes also, but I always used gifts wrap, never tried color copies of photos, I think black and white would be cool also. __________________ Click here to shop for deals at gifts.com now!

If you can get the photos scanned, you can make a photo quilt (or any of those personalized items like bags, etc way cheaper than the store). For tote bags, pillowcases, tshirts, etc: Get photo transfer paper and print it out. Then iron on - very easy to do (my kids did them last year) and very inexpensive. For a photo quilt: Go to any good fabric store and ask them for the fabric that you can print directly on (the one I got came in a pack with 12 squares). Print the pictures you want out directly onto the fabric - allow it to set for 24 hours so that they don't smudge when sewing. Sew the squares together and add a backing for a very fast quilt. Or do what I did - print out some as the big squares and for other squares, fit 2-4 pictures on and then cut them into individual squares. Then add some inexpensive fabric that matches the premade backing (I picked the fabric up in the bargin bin at Walmart for 1.00 & got some backing on sale there too) and piece it together on the backing. Sew together for a truely one of a kind gift. The most expensive part was the speciality fabric for the photos - I think it was around $12, and the total quilt (5'x6') was less than $20 to do. You could also use the fabric to make pillow fronts - just about anything. __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. I don't have a suggestion other then to say.. Last Christmas mom couldn't afford to buy us gifts with her being sick and waiting for a transplant.. Well, she found her old high school senior picture (black and white of course) and had copies made and gave them to each of us kids for Christmas. It was by far one of the best gifts I had ever been given. With the fear that mom may not "make it", I was so grateful to have such a memorable gift from her. So.. I guess what I'm saying is.. no matter what you do with your pics.. I'm sure they will be very well received. Good luck! __________________ Click here to shop for deals at gifts.com now! I also have appreciated pictures already in frames so you can put them out immediately. ![]() I thought a framed picture seemed too "usual", but I can see that for some people it still would be the route to go. I guess the picture itself may be the important issue... |

Another simple one would be to get some of those magnets that are peel and stick. They sell them to put on the backs of salescards/calling cards. |
